Current CGs - is this some kind of joke?

You'd think with the incentive seemingly to be more players able to purchase fleet carriers, that Fdev would have positioned fleet carriers to make them more money by giving them a concourse and providing a ton of shop options to customize that concourse.

But like other examples such as this, it seems that Fdev hates making money in an almost troll like manner to infuriate it's fanbase.

This is such a weird one credits wise...
On my main a/c (going since release, 1.8 bill + all ships I want) I've got to top 50% in both by just selling what I had hanging about- I tend to try for half way up the tier above my target so looking at 300 mill+ total.
On my second a/c (epic from the giveaway, 60 mill) I've sold a couple of mats to each so that I get a guaranteed 5 mill + 10 mill = 15mill.

For cmdr's with a low balance this cg is a huge boost by just handing in a single bit of material to get in the top 100%. For larger banked cmdrs it's a bit more effort in either grinding a surface site or flogging off mats that you might need for engineering to get a similar balance % change - The engineered modules look poor so it's all about the cash.

In summary, I reckon the rewards seem excessive but occasionally FD do a mental CG - remember the one several years ago were people were making huge sums or the battle for onionhead ?!

IIRC, someone from Frontier mentioned recently that Frontier would be "looking at" relogging.

Many people have assumed they meant "we are preparing to eliminate relogging as a mechanism to harvest materials".

Perhaps what they actually meant was "we will perform a psychological experiment on our playerbase to determine how much relogging some of them are capable of doing".

Dr Pavlov approves...

I’ve been away from the game for a while, this sounds very depressing. I mean relogski all you like but for FDev to offer crazy credits as a reward for an exploitable system. That’s depressing.

I hope it’s a data gathering exercise on their part, but I doubt they’d need to do this just to get those figures.

Decided to head to Nanomam and dump all the mats I had gathered up - not using them for engineering as I don't have any need for that right now - already in 75% bracket so hopefully get the KWS which looks useful enough on paper at least. Most effort required is actually holding down the mouse button to transfer stuff. It's all so silly you have to laugh really.

Ah yeah and one of the mats shows twice in the menu. And the data is denominated in tons. Heavy stuff.

We're not going to get the EDO UI fixed, are we.

Not been paying attention to the current CGs so forgive me if I'm half a week late - but

  • Not one, but two CGs that rely heavily on re-logging?
  • Payout in the 9, even 10 digits?

Really, FDev?

What the heck is going on here? ? A social experiment? Employee responsible for CG design roped into EDO release crunch? A honey pot for testing logging mechanics? Someone at FDev losing a bet? To generate salt?

I don't get it.
Sorry, you've lost me here. How are people earning money from doing relogs at sites like Dav's to keep collecting the mats again

And tomorrow will FDev cut rewards down by two zeros with apology about glitch in CG system ... this would make me laugh really hard ;)
The flow of salt here and in the Livestream comments would be epic.
Think it's mostly G1 stuff, not sure...
It's actually G4 and G5 in roughly equal amounts. And they just so happen to fit into one material trader chain that counts for the CGs. You also get quite a bit of CIF occasionally.

It's the first CG that I can remember where mats were handed in and it all feels a bit rubbish - no "sell all" button, mats listed twice (as you mention), unclear how you hand in the mats.
We're all (unfortunately) used to this sort of thing now but it must be really confusing for new players.

I think a combination of errors.

  • The initial CG targets were set at 5 tiers, 17 million total deliveries each. Since the last time they'd done this sort of CG, with basically the same materials, had got 20 million total deliveries over the course of the week ... that doesn't seem an unreasonable target, but of course it's a rare CG type so they don't have that good data on variation ...
  • Tier 5 payout is 1 billion for top 10, and a few hundred million for top 10%/25%. That's high - but the research CG type doesn't give you any payout except the final CG reward ... whereas a typical bounty CG you'd have at least 100 million in bounties for a top 10% finish before the CG reward was even considered. And that's if it got to Tier 5, which on the basis of the previous research CG it probably wouldn't. So, generous payouts at T5, comparable to a normal CG at T4, weaker below that.

Then it turned out to be extremely popular relative to the last CG of the same type - more plot salience, some niche but interesting modules, etc. - so it was clear that it was going to end by Saturday morning or so. So, the CG targets were - with the benefit of full hindsight - set far too low despite seeming reasonable at the time.

In the interest of not having two weeks out of three fail to make it to the weekend, they extended both CGs with some massive extra tiers - fair enough. Unfortunately, they then had the tier payments just keep scaling up on the same pattern of the earlier ones. So of course then when Hudson hit Tier 6 and that became obvious, there was a massively uncharacteristic rush of extra people into the CG, which means even the ridiculously high target is also going to be smashed...

Essentially some entirely understandable misses on the initial CG size have ended up escalating through further easy mistakes into Hudson bankrupting the Federal budget... (maybe we'll see Galnet acknowledge that while Hudson has got his way on surveillance, even some Republican representatives in Congress are murmuring about the excessive spending?)

Hopefully this convinces the people who think Frontier are carefully manipulating CG outcomes to their preferred option, that Frontier really are not able to predict player behaviour, even in aggregate, anywhere near that precisely :) They were off by a factor of more than ten on this one...

My commander is full Iron Mode (PvE Mobius), full RP and I've never been after the credit (or any other) grind - been here since 2014, 3 wipes so far, flying a T9, owning a few other (smaller) ships and 147 mio in the books. Picked up this CG and thought; hey, why not. Fits the (commanders) story and anyway I don't need the data I've accumulated over the years... that was last Friday. Today I just revistited the CG... holy ; in the top 75% and as it looks soon 216 mio richer - and it feels so wrong, so out of touch that my brain demands a logical explanation - or I just buy a T10 and blow it up... for the fun of it...

I really started hoping that you commanders overtake me and I fall back into the top 100... that would, at least, be within tolerable limits (for me). But what's going on right now... that's just obscene!

Think I'm done... this is soul destroying.

Ended up in 50% even just trading in G4/G5 mats and then handing in the G1 mats instead - each takes several seconds to transfer as there's no 'transfer all' button as mentioned above already. As long as I end up in the 75% I'm.... well, happy isn't really the right word... less dirty?

It's just numberwang at this stage. They may as well add a few more zeros although that will probably cause variable overflow errors, because why not :ROFLMAO:

Look at the payouts here:

I'm new to this type of thing going on listed on that site, but I have like many visted Dav;s and doing relogs to collect the mats and encoded. So people are collecting the mats from places like Dav's by relogging - and then they can sell the Encoded material at that base. Is that how they make the money, because I've never known you being able to "sell" encoded mats
