Short version:
It would be great if we could lend cargo storage space on a station.
Example implementation:
Short rationale:
Currently when you mine, you collect a lot of different goods. Many of them are worth just as much as the thing you're after, but you're forced to throw them away or ignore them simply because it's not worth hauling 10 tons of something across the bubble to get a good price for it. This saps away the fun out of mining - you found a treasure but it's the wrong color, so you have to thow it away.
With a station nearby that could store this stuff for you, you are free to enjoy mining whatever valuable thing comes your way and store it at the station until you have enough to make a trip to sell it worthwhile.
You could think of it as a teaser for a carrier

It would be great if we could lend cargo storage space on a station.
Example implementation:
- only one station can lend us cargo storage space at a time,
- no automated transferring cargo between station(s)/carrier (e.g. can't hire storage space elsewhere and have the cargo hauled automatically)
- service is paid for like a carrier: lump sum upfront, then weekly subscription taken from a deposit.
- several possible capacities to choose from, e.g. ranging between 50t for 100.000cr per week to 500t for 1 million per week.
- debt could be paid by automated sale of stored good for galactic average, in case the player doesn't pay up in time. No cargo to sell and no payment, contract voided.

I recently got a fleet carrier (thanks Hudson
) and I'm amazed just how much it transformed my game. Granted, I'm a special case with so little time to play and so many distractions that my playstyle is far from optimal, but nonetheless the fleet carrier opened up a world of opportunities for me. I find it troubling that, given my playing capacity, I might have never even got to the fleet carrier if not for the recent CG, as I could have been fed up with the game by that time, losing the opportunity to enjoy the much more relaxed gameplay when you have a carrier.
So I was thinking - is there something about the carrier that could be made available to newer players?
Well, I genuinely like core mining, so one of the coolest features imho is the freedom when mining. I park my carrier next to the mining spot and just go mining. I pick up Monazite, Benitoite, Rhodplumsite, Serendibite, whatever comes up. Every core is a jackpot. When I'm full, I run over to my carrier, drop the whole haul (whatever it is) and head back to the ring (or log out or do whatever else).
Then, when I want to cash in at some later point in time, I look at the cargo on the carrier and if I have enough of something to make the trip worth the time, I pick it up in a ship with large cargo hold and decent jump range and go sell, conveniently and for lots of money, even though that thing came into my possession in packs of 15-20 tons at a time.
This is so much more enjoyable than the nasty feeling of finding something that's worth a lot, knowing that it makes to sense to pick it up because you'll have to sell it immediately and it's just not worth the time to haul 10 tons of something across the bubble.
