So I just DLed the 49 gig update on steam, and when I opened the launcher I was greeted with this...

My guess/take-way = Translation... "Your version differs from the version on the Frontier servers" (because the frontier servers are still being upgraded). I strongly suspect that the 48.9 GB download we're all pulling down from Steam is the bulk of what needs to be downloaded. I'm leaving the Elite launcher closed and just running Steam.
After 1pm - 2pm ET (when the upgrade of the Frontier servers is meant to be completed), I'll check again by running the Elite launcher, see if the Server Status is now "OK" or still "Upgrading" and if "OK", start looking for a new "Elite Dangerous: Odyssey" option. If, after 2pm ET, their Server Status is still "Upgrading" then I'd be looking for further status updates and ETA from Frontier. Though in my case, I don't care until after 5pm ET since I'm working anyway.

To be fair, it now has the option for odyssey in the background, and just says "Play" not upgrade, so I think that may be a fair assessment.
Until after 2pm ET, it's not actually problem.
And fixed, the launcher opens now.
Got this. Open the Game Folder and start the EDLaunch.exe manually, do the Odyssey update there.
I think this is a problem because FD hasn't give out Steam Keys for Odyssey, but ED and Horizons is installed via Steam.
So now i got a mixed setup where ED and Horizons is updated via Steam, but Odyssey is updated via Frontier directly.
EDIT: I just had to close the Launcher again and turn off the Cache Options in the Launcher for it to actual download something.
Now i can play the game via the steam launcher again.
