Presumably you have the launcher installed on C:\, and it just naively uses its own directory as a cache? But yes, it should definitely obey user preferences set via environment variable — especially now the game is so huge with all the bits.

Extract them and play through your media player of choice, surely. You can use something like the open source 7-Zip to extract.

i put an .rdr file in place to fix it, with notepad create a file called elite-dangerous-odyssey-64.rdr, in it put the path ti where you want it installed. e.g. d:\frontier\elite and save it to where the launcher is trying to install the game

No, it generates the error file attached and exits back to the launcher with the Install button blue again . My C drive (232GB) now has 2GB free but was about 100GB previously.

So the patch notes are finally up, no sign of any new ships, little for non Oddesssy players to get excited for and i've no idea what the "big surprise" is 🤔😐 ...

Steam version. Game was updated, 48Gb. Launcher doesn't show Odyssey. Horizons runs good, tho...
Want to say something salty, but I rather wait for a day or two =)

I was able to get in, play what I think is a training mission. But then after my lift took me to station servers were down.

My guess is so many people anxious to play we overloaded it.

Made it through the initial Odyssey mission to retrieve data from a settlement, but as soon as I had landed and disembarked on the home base I got a Black Adder and was disconnected from the server. I now get as far as the main menu, but the server isn´t available.
