E-breaches how do you use them once purchased? Number says 0.

I bought 100 e-breaches and went to do some missions. When I got to a crate, it said 0 e breaches. Not in my backpack and I didn’t see them anywhere.


1. Can you only use them with a specific suit?

2. Where are they in your inventory if not in your pack?

3. Can you open all crates with them and take the loot with no penalty or crime?

When I used them in the alpha they worked on security type panels (clearance level 1-3). You just aim at the panel and press your secondary action key. (For me, that's F, with E as primary action.)

Nope, won't work on number pads on crates/lockers/etc

They take slots in the suit. I don't know if the flight suit will let you carry any. I bought about 40-50 and they were stored in ship inventory like grenades, and (filled the spare slots in my suit the same way.)*

Because they're illegal to carry, it doesn't auto-stock them when you leave your ship - you need to transfer them to your backpack from your right panel before you disembark.

I am having an issue with accessing my inventory from my ship, however - I select the option in the menu, but I get booted out of it and the game CTDs a few moments later. Rather frustrating as I can't use the E-Breaches as a result.

Thank you, that makes sense about transferring them. Can you be scanned and attacked by security if you have them in your ship inventory?

Also, the crates outside a settlement specifically said e breach and hit E to use. I just had 0 on me. Are you not supposed to be able to open crates with them?

No. Guards only detect what's in your backpack.

E-Breaches are the only way to break into crates if you don't have the PIN.

They did in the Alpha at least. Things might have changed or may be bugged.

I don't think so. Never had an issue carrying them in the Alpha or in the release so far - and I have 100 of them

I don't think there's a fine associated with using an E-Breach if no one spots you using it.

That depends on where the crate is. If it's outside it will probably contain items such as Insight, Infinity (which aren't used in upgrading equipment, as Infinity is a cologne in-game apparently) and Health Monitors (which are used in suit upgrades). If it's inside of a Processing room in an Industrial building it might contain more useful supplies such as Compression-Liquified Gas, Ionized Gas and so forth.
