A potentially great game ruined by spite, incompetence and mediocre performance and poor AA

The incompetence is the UI, but some of this crap i dont see any other explanation for, other than FD hates its players. I cant believe they actually seemed to have racheted up the grind as well.

Just finished a mission, got the power back on and when i tried to hand it in, a voice said "mission failed". In addition to automatic failure i got a 100k fine on a mission worth only 116k.

Frontier is going to pay for this over and over and over again in lost sales and reputation. Imo they have a small window right now to pull it out of the fire before the negative reviews and feedback snowball, and boys and girls at FD, that window is closing fast. Im getting a refund on my other acct tomorrow and if things dont improve im going to agitate for a refund on my main account. Im sure my bank will cooperate with the specs peekaboo being what it was.

I cant even believe the outfitting and shipyard UI, how could they let it out the door in this condition? I guess when money is on the line, pride in your work suffers.

Totally agree. The mission structure, timeframes and penalties are extreme crapola. I feel we have to be quite discerning with mission selection to optimize our chances of success (bugs aside). I hate completing a mission and then race back to the terminal to ensure I meet the timer. The timer should stop when I complete the mission objective. Honestly, every gameplay loop in ED feels like a penalty on my time.

Yeah that must be it. They have clearly designed a UI to purposefully annoy the OP. Maybe because he made a joke about one of the dev’s mums? Who knows...

Or alternatively, they are trying to cut down player numbers by interspersing their code with strategic bugs so that they don’t have to code any more

the game is doomed.

You are right, never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by incompetence. It's not the exact quote, but whatever.

Well you have to ask yourself, do you feel respected as a paying customer, even minimally, by FD given EDO's marketing and current state?
Considering on the 6quests I tried, only 2 have been successful, and 4 failed due to bug, I wonder what I paid for.
I'm ok with bugs, like that guy with untextured pauldron. I'm even ok with having my character stuck with a stupid grin and white washed. But when I pay for content and it doesn't work, it makes me wonder : what did I pay for ?

At this point, after all the negativity from people who simply have no idea how businesses work, if I was Frontier, I would probably say something like "If that's the gratitude we're going to get for three years hard work and improvements, having to cope with the difficulties Covid forced upon us .... if that's how you all feel, I guess we'll call it a day for Elite." And call up Amazon and shut down the servers.

Seriously, I'm not being a white knight here, but it's getting ridiculous. If you redecorated someone's house, and they paid you for it. Then you had to put up with constant, non-stop hate and criticism about EVERYTHING .... how long would it take for you to lose it and tell them to get lost? (that's me being polite and trying to stay within the forum rules).

I'm increasingly becoming of the opinion that 98% of the player-base can simply get lost and play Star Citizen, X4, No Man's Sky, Dual Universe, Space Engineers, Call Of Duty, PUBG, Fortnite, Doom, Days Gone ..... basically ANY OTHER GAME EXCEPT THIS ONE, because it seems no matter what Frontier does you won't ever be happy.

Try looking for the positives instead of focusing on the negatives. That doesn't mean ignore the negatives, just stop making things a bigger problem than they really are FCOL.

EDIT: Also, I fully expect every one of you who refund, to close your forum account as well and never show your faces in this community again.

News flash. Consumers don't want something that's a dumpster fire that they paid money for. We saw this happen with No Man's Sky launch. We saw this happen with CP2077 launch. The developers got torched, and rightfully so. Why should this developer be any different for a launch that should've been pushed back for several more months it seems. So yeah, you are white knighting absolutely valid concerns and anger for a subpar product. Telling people to close their forum accounts? Yikes. Talk about shilling. In the wake of the CP2077 launch, how could you ever possibly think releasing this game in its current state was a good idea?

They probably should before the refunds bankrupt them.

To be fair, that's almost never the Dev's fault. But the upper management. Dev say "we need more time", management say "nope". Hurt them as much, if not more than us, since they really worked hard on it.
