Applying Pioneer skin seems to disable the flashlight

But "only" on the Artemis & Maverick suits based on my experience. Removing the skin from either suit makes it work again.

As in, the light doesn't switch on despite the flashlight icon being active.

I'm kinda speechless at this point.

I have a Maverick suit, with the Pioneer skin applied.
In concourse the flashlight does light up - but i have not tried it on a planet yet
Still hunting for suits and weapons

Could confirm just now again - thought I had the Pioneer skin removed from the Artemis suit (light didn't work), but the broken cosmetics UI didn't make it 'stick' it seems. I now changed to the white one, and voila flashlight works again.

At least there's a workaround but yeah, nice that premium cost items received the care and attention they deserved.

It does seem to work fine for the Dominator suit at least.

I still cannot equip the Pioneer skin since it won't save the change. Did you purchase via steam? It seems a steam issue
Nope. Direct with Frontier.

If you're applying the skin before you save the suit layout it won't stick. Save it first, then go and apply the skin. It'll be dark though, and I'm not talking about the skin itself.

After the 2nd hotfix completed I tried this on a planets surface at night with all 3 suits checking using the external camera that they were all in the Pioneer skin.

The torch worked with all of them.

Strange. I faced this issue after the hotfix from yesterday still. If it's something else who knows but so far my testing yielded expected results based on my theory.

Wasn't there a problem with the Clipper shipkit preventing jumping? So there'd be precedence of cosmetics impacting actual gameplay (if not intentional).

Just tried an experiment with the Maverick suit and removed the torso piece the torch then didn't work.
Replaced it and the torch worked fine.

I see - so I need to have all the extra bits attached for it to work then? Or just the torso piece?

I had all the extras on and just changed the Torso on a hunch.
That worked for me, thanks! Flashlight came on in the concourse, thankfully I had it bound to a separate key as i wouldn't have been able to switch it off otherwise.
