Franchise - comunity challenge, Vulnerable Animals (17 of may, 2021)

I have 121 and the meter's still going up for me. But we need a LOT more people participating if we are going to beat this challenge! May be the first one since the 3* birds that fails- and I put a LOT of work into setting up for this challenge! :(

It is fun, though- I have 14 pens of cheetahs (got to put my long-time cheetah breeding project to use!) , big herds of reindeer and hippos, a big pen of mandrills, and assorted dingoes, black bears and other Vulnerable species.
I'm up to 100+, and have loads of lovely gold cheetahs in trade centre, but am limited by the design of my zoo. How have you got pens spread so that they are visited by guests? It seemed to me that they need to enjoy and donate to the animals to make them 3 star? Am I wrong? Will guests be interested enough in loads of cheetah pens?

Do Animals with Gold Genetics get Stars faster? Not much Luck yet with the Komodo Dragons so I'll probably breed Dingos for a While

I do participate !!!! But the meter stays at 57% for me :)
Not sure w ell succeed in 16 hours :'(
I think it already happened in the Past that it is bugged and won't show the real Progress. Really hope that's the Reason. Got Dingos yesterday for the Challenge but for some Reason they almost don't breed

As i could see and read in help ... it doesnt change anything... Stars are linked to longevity . Im breedin' cheetahs and Babiroussas (dunno the name in English) so as binturongs ... But some are really difficult to raise to 3* as they, for some species, don't stand to be with another same gender (as female cheetahs ;) )

Thanks for the Information. At least I know this now. Probably won't be able to really help anymore with the Challenge because I feel sick. How many % are currently finished?

I can't figure out what makes some individual animals within a species climb in star ratings faster than others. It's just as mysterious to me as the reason why the recommended trade price will be different for two genetically identical litter mates of the same age and species.

Cheetahs are "sexy" enough animals it makes sense they'd get up there faster. I was surprised they are only listed as vulnerable, though, given their decreasing range and genetic issues, low sperm counts etc (with many speculating they won't survive in the wild) I was under the impression they were much more endangered than they evidently are.

Even so, my young cheetahs are never up to three stars by the time they are mature and fighting with their parents and must be sold or released. Again, I have to release the parents, who are old enough they really wouldn't be great candidates for returning to the wild.

I guess PZ guests just aren't that excited by tortoises and komodo dragons. Could have fooled me with the way they crowd around my tortoise exhibits forcing me to have "off exhibit" areas for when they get stressed. The tortoises are so slow simply giving them a bigger enclosure with a private area doesn't help much, as it takes too long for them to get back there. Guests seem to love the tortoises, but the animals' star ratings rise even more slowly than they walk.

I do have a Tortoise that is a little bit older than 100 Years and even might become 200 Years old. He has 3 Stars and the female that is only a few Years younger, got her third Star only around the Time when she became 100 Years old too. Should've looked at the adults first before stopping to give them Contraceptives.
Komodo Dragons also seem to get 3 Stars only very late in their Life for some Reason

Sorry I missed this earlier. So- for next time-I finished at almost 300 animals, mostly cheetahs. I had 14 pens of cheetahs, 5 on-exhibit and 9 off-exhibit. The on-exhibit pens were filled with surplus male cheetahs, which could be kept 3 to a pen. I didn't have any issues getting them to 3 stars- even the off-exhibit animals would get there. I d idn't have a single cheetah that didn't have at least 3 stars by 8 years of age (I was releasing them all at 8, if not earlier, to make sure they didn't hit old age and need to be rehomed- cheetahs are one of the species that have to be rehomed as soon as they turn elderly.)

Animals will earn stars in the trade centre as well - I don't know whether they'll make it to 5 stars, but I managed to get about 200 3* animals in a couple of days by breeding babirussa and komodo dragons, once they reach adulthood, put them in the trade centre and wait until they get to 3 stars and then release them.

I promise nothing unethical happened here. The end result is all that matters. Unfortunately we did not reach our goal.
