ANNOUNCEMENT Odyssey Update 2021

Playing in open yesterday just on Horizons (I forsaw the crapshow that EDO was going to be), doing some AX CZs ... dropping back into a CZ on a wing signal ... game just crashes to black screen, can still hear the music in the background ... had to kill task.
Restarted steam 'just in case'

... restart the game - jump to SC, drop back on wing signal - same thing happens.

Wearily restart steam again .... repeat the process again

... purple python error

... and again

... switch off the game in disgust

Yamiks sums it up, game is a dumpster fire

but in spite of those challenges we are pleased with our progress towards what is a truly ambitious new era for the game. We’ve been delighted with the excitement and positive response to our development diaries, interviews, streams and trailers and want to thank all of you for your continued support.

I notice same sort of things happening with most games today.
What we need is a Game Players Manifesto,
to give developers basic guidelines we expect in a released game.

As long as they don't become a ship dealership and start selling ships.
DealerSHIP! :D Oh nvm it sounded more funny in my head :D

Actually we don't need to. See there's this ONE WEIRD TRICK that game publishers hate:

DO NOT PREORDER AND BUY ON RELEASE BEFORE THE REVIEWS FLOW IN

That's really all there is to it! Using this one simple trick, you can avoid situations like this altogether. Because it was a business decision to reap Fiscal Year numbers before end of May, and people took it, hook, line and sinker.

And yet, when I share this one simple trick, I'm met with adversity that "I'm telling people how to spend their money". When pointing the fact that this behaviour enables releases like that, there's only more hostility :p Truth hurts, I guess :D

After today's update, the bug with the transfer of goods between the ship and the Fleet Carrier is not resolved. The bug is in Odyssey, if you transfer your hold to the fleet carrier, the number does not decrease on the ship side, but increases in the Fleet Carrier, being able to give endless goods. The price of minerals becomes anything! You're not going to tell me that you haven't seen anything, otherwise you're really not playing your own game.

Now that is one intelligent Post VR StarLightPL, i agree 100%.

Since we are ready to throw money at the developers, even for an unfinished product, or even for promises only, why would they not take it?

Your very correct, but a crowd is only as smart as the lowest intelligent person in it

I think that should be enough.

Please play nicely.
OK, I'm not going to insult or accuse anyone now, however, I will ask you to pass on one simple truth to fdev.
a lot of odyssey's problems (not only performance related but also balance and gameplay) could be avoided if fdev were more open in their game development, and more proactively sharing what they are working on with the community (because I am pretty sure during the development of odyssey the concepts of various gameplay elements were changed several times, some of which were dropped because fdev didn't like them and the community would have loved them) and running tests in a timely manner, not 3 weeks before release.
Thank you.

And ... lastly, i would like to say. i really hope that it is now obvious, even to the "white knights", that keeping fdev silent by shouting "i don't want to know anything about how the odyssey is developing, don't share any details about it with the community!" was a damn bad idea.
Because they too are responsible for the failed launch and the 30% rating now on steam as an eyesore.
thank you all for your attention!

One comment to the ever reocurring wish of the fans for more participation in the developement of a game.
I don't know if anyone here knows or remembers "Neocron" it was a nice MMO, had a good start. The developers of that game however did listen very much to the wishes of the comunity and the result was the game got bad, really bad beyond fixing and the developers had to give up the projekt.
In my opinion developers should be very carefull when listening to the wishes of the comunity.
