Crash sites, buildings, etc in unexplored systems.

I was exploring in remote space when Odessey launched, and I still am. I am entering unexplored system after unexplored system and I have found buildings, crash sites, impact craters, etc. since Odessey. This I find odd. With 400 billion systems, I might RARELY expect to find a crash site of some hapless explorer who discovered the system but crashed on a planet before he/she could sell the data and get credit for the discovered bodies. But at the rate I'm finding these, this must have happened millions, or perhaps billions of times - impossibly unlikely. And buildings, power sources, data sources, etc in undiscovered systems? How is this possible? Once again, MAYBE a few, but not the millions/billions there must be in the galaxy at the rate I'm finding them. This change/addition destroys the appeal of the discovery career for me, and others, noted on Reddit. If most of the systems I'm "discovering" have been crashed in/had buildings erected, then how can I really be an explorer? And what meaningful purpose could all these objects in "undiscovered" systems serve, except to farm data/canisters/ship components? It seems shallow and meaningless. I'm really having a hard time with this. I no longer feel like I'm doing anything exploring except earning cash, which is not the reason most people spend weeks in the black, IMO. I'm not really the first explorer in a great many systems I'm "discovering". There is powerful motivation at work here that is compromised by the apparently thoughtless addition of meaningless grind content. Maybe some lore will appear that explains this stuff in an interesting way, but right now it makes no sense to me.

On the other had, Odyssey difficulties aside, I appreciate what FD is trying to do with Odyssey. I wish the launch had been smoother, we all do, undoubtedly FD most of all. But I'm glad there is an Elite Dangerous to play, and a company willing to create it and build on it. They have been working under difficult circumstances lately, and I appreciate their efforts..

Anything outside of a couple of jumps from a station or inhabited space I ignore, space sirens/vampires you know, they lure you down and suck all your blood out!
 
It sounds like these sites are far too frequent right now. I like the idea of the occasional diversion when out exploring, but such contacts should be rarer, more valuable, and more exploration-specific. e.g., far-away crash sites having a DBX with more engineering materials rather than an Eagle with commodities.

It is funny when you explore one of several settlements on an unexplored planet in an uncharted system with your SRV and when you decide to leave the SRV and walk a bit: Bingo! first landfall achievement!
 
I have to say I quite like finding wrecks - I haven't come across too many except for one system which had like 4 in but since then I've not found any.

I find it really strange finding structures though - I found one 3k ly away from Sag A.

There definitely needs to be less satellite crashes though - almost every other planet feels like it has at least 3 impact sites.

I may have whined too soon: I'm reading Elite Dangerous: Premonition, and I just came across a passage that may hint at an explanation for all these structures, beacons, etc that I'm finding. There may be too many of them, but they may actually serve a purpose. To avoid a potential spoiler, I will say no more. Or I could be reading too much into it.

One planet I landed on, many thousands of LY towards the rim, had a single artificial signal which was a crash site. I spent a few hours away, logged in again, and there were now two more sites, impact sites. A few hours later a couple more crash sites has been added, making five in all. Why were there suddenly loads of crashes appearing just hours after I had discovered the planet?

Because it appears the crash sites are generated per instance for the player and not part of the planet generation, I will have to test that myself, I imagine that's why they are treated differently than geo and bio which is part of the planetary generation and will be the same for all players.

Oh, pity. I thought I'd discovered "the Sargasso of Space" and the Sisterhood of Karn were making all spaceships crash in the vicinity. Or perhaps some Cornish-style wreckers who were luring them in like sirens onto the rocks.
