Yong Yeas take on Elite Dangerous Odyssey (Not Good)

I must confess that i've never heard of them, most streamers etc just annoy me no end so excuse my ignorance.
You do hear of a few, and streamers are actually a great way to get the word out about your title. Like they're kind of the new age radio jocks sorta kinda but way more ephemeral. I just have never heard of this one.

You're not. I'm literally hearing about this kid right now and I'm a gamedev. Not even remotely on the radar.
Well... I'm think I'm definitely old.... considering I've been playing PC games since the 80s :)

I guess I could ask my kids how out of touch I am lol

Honestly - that guy was boring.... I'd rather watch that guy Yamiks rage - that's at least entertaining.

When only 10-20% of them watchs your video, it's just a click bate tuber, riding numbers on big bad stories that happening in game world. He even covered Leviathans Fall Expansion from Paradox's Europe Universalis 4. And by covered i mean he was just reading news articels and negative reviews.
Push dislick, Block Channel, and move on. Youtube is filled with garbage content like that.
Garbage? It's a great way to aggregate the information. He's the reason I knew about EA's disgusting "surprise mechanics" debacle

This industry is becoming increasingly predatory and anti-consumer. At least he brings the info to people.

Another moron on You Tube with some "opinions" . I couldn't care less . Maybe the next one will be AngryJoe ! .
Seems like people with complaints looking for confirmation wherever you can find it . I spent the evening running larceny missions , collecting materials , shooting pirates , cashing in , all at min 50fps with no issues or bugs encountered

Remember, it's garbage when the content creator disagree with you.
It's a good creator when he agrees.

That's how you can recognize them.

It's very funny, because before Odyssey, when yamicks was refused a copy of the game, a lot of people where like "good riddance, he is a [insert expletive]". But now that the majority seems to be angry or disappointed, people are linking his videos and saying how right he is.
Weird, huh ?

It does, by definition. Over 1 million people subscribing to it is huge.

YongYea is well known in the gaming community on YouTube.

What's actually telling is the Youtube comments.

Some examples:

Had a friend who uninstalled ED after the Odyssey update, in his words the game has been carrying the "has potential" tag for its entire existence and has never lived up to that potential.

He got tired of waiting for the developers to get their act together, so he left a negative steam review, uninstalled, and has moved on to greener pastures.

Sad to see because once upon a time he was really passionate about the game but you can't keep abusing the goodwill of your playerbase and not expect consequences.[/qupte]

I swear every game I want to deliver on its promises falls flat every time.

The saddest part about this is, if Frontier delayed the expansion and released a finished product this could have taken elite dangerous from a pretty niche community, to a more mainstream audience. Frontier absolutely dropped the ball on this one and will feel the consequences for years to come.

That's the top 3.

See any screaming or gamers being entitled? Or just well-reasoned disappointment?

It's the latter. Because again, the entire fairy tale of "haters" and "entitled gamers" was invented by gaming companies to stifle criticisms against them.

But yeah, sure Yong Yea is a clickbait Youtuber and the Youtubers trying to mock people for complaining about Odyssey aren't. Seems to me they're just calling Yong Yea a clickbaiter because they're jealous of his success and the fact he actually taps into what normal people think like.

Putting the defense of a broken game above the pain of actual people is not normal, no matter how much they insist otherwise. It's actually very perverse thinking.

LOL what do you dev? This guy is well known as a critic of franchises that use gambling mechanics - especially of low PEGI publishers like EA. You ought to look through is history of postings.
