Yong Yeas take on Elite Dangerous Odyssey (Not Good)

What's actually telling is the Youtube comments.

Some examples:

That's the top 3.

See any screaming or gamers being entitled? Or just well-reasoned disappointment?

It's the latter. Because again, the entire fairy tale of "haters" and "entitled gamers" was invented by gaming companies to stifle criticisms against them.

But yeah, sure Yong Yea is a clickbait Youtuber and the Youtubers trying to mock people for complaining about Odyssey aren't. Seems to me they're just calling Yong Yea a clickbaiter because they're jealous of his success and the fact he actually taps into what normal people think like.

Putting the defense of a broken game above the pain of actual people is not normal, no matter how much they insist otherwise. It's actually very perverse thinking.
"wanting a functioning product as advertised for your hard earned money" is now "entitled" and being a "hater".

LOL what do you dev? This guy is well known as a critic of franchises that use gambling mechanics - especially of low PEGI publishers like EA. You ought to look through is history of postings.
Lol I'm safe then. Decisively anti-gachapon. I used to do games for Microsoft Game Studios and the Mechwarrior series, these days, I can't talk about current projects but decisively non gacha.

Maybe he's a developer for Fdev and only watches videos from ObsidianAnt.

At least until OA dared to make a few negative comments at which point that silly movement a few days ago started claiming that OA was making people want to stop playing the game due to his "negativity".

Sure would explain why so many people here bizarrely keep defending bug-ridden software that's largely unacceptable to most consumers.

You do hear of a few, and streamers are actually a great way to get the word out about your title. Like they're kind of the new age radio jocks sorta kinda but way more ephemeral. I just have never heard of this one.
Well my experience of streamers and youtubers have been to blag free keys, i'm a musician and i kind of got annoyed by it all but i don't want to put a total negative on them as some are actually very good, guess it's the modern way.

It is for now. I mean like, five years ago everyone was all about twitch, now it's not really that big of a deal on bottom line. What you really do is you follow wherever market data goes via analytics like gamasutra or other major business outlets, then you want to have your marketing team focus where people are listening. Like right now TickTock's a big deal but who knows what it'll be next year. Kinda volatile like that.

To be fair, YongYea only jumps on bandwagons and parrots overwhelmingly common opinions. His channel is the 'fast food' of gamer outrage.
Again, it's a great place to get aggregate information. A lot of it is more than simply opinion, as well. Such as the NBA 2K20 having literal slot machines and being rated for children.

Lol, what you left out is that gamers in fact keep switching outlets because they recognize the marketers keep trying to follow them to try and "influence" them.

Hey the way I see it. If he's protecting kids from gambling and they're listening to him. He should keep on keepin on. Gacha is gross.

EDIT: Zinegata, I so wish you were right. But honestly no. People love bandwagoning, hardcore. Game studios like mine who want to make story based, serious non cashgrab titles, we got a lotta uphill road to climb due to all the quicksale games.

Instead of being outraged about broken games, games with gambling mechanics, etc.... Gamers should just not play or spend money on those games. It's like people can't control themselves...... of course that's true about a lot of products (fast food, etc)
