1. There have been numerous requests over the years for storage - only available now if you have a fleet carrier.
2. You can edit a file to alter your HUD - there is now a more comprehensive utility to change many items colour, intensity and even supress things.
I use a technique shown in the thread No2O:
https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threa...-configs-please-add-yours.259311/post-4011448
... basically you edit (or create) a file "GraphicsConfigurationOverride.xml" in your %LOCALAPPDATA%\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options\Graphics directory.
The combination I use is called Mocha and basically gets rid of the neon orange but retains everything (some people have the sensor really messed up in my opinion).
I run a white HUD and the portrait colors look to be real good. Friendlies are blue, neutrals are white, enemies are yellow (flashy yellow when attacking). 0.39, 0.47, 0.21 0.08, 0.14, 1 1, -0.03, -1 I dig this scheme. Can't wait to get home and enable it. Thanks.

examples showing how the orange is now sort-of coffee but retains the red and green for enemies and allies:

Here is the more extensive HUD mod (which I don't use) thread
Hi CMDRs, As you know, Elite has a default orange HUD. Over the years, CMDRs found a way to alter their HUD via an XML modification. However, the XML method has widespread unintended effects on many other important elements, such as the colour of friends/foes on the radar, and pilot portraits...
