Oh dear

I jumped over 2500 Ly away just so I can farm those damn crytalline shards. Finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel to my surprise they give only low grade mats. After 4 days of exploring and farming I just decided to drive my anaconda into the nearest star finally tasting the sweet release of death that ushered me into the void of eternal peace. Why can't I be just a lad out there in the universe far away in the deep darkness just farming, doing my own thing and not causing any trouble? I feel like there is no end to this disappointment well that has been drilled beneath us, its like this endless dark pit that keeps sucking joy and the life right out of us. I am just frustrated, I don't care anymore of the damn bugs or that there are no drinks at the bar or David Braben 980 GTX or the ground textures glitching out... I don't give a flying taupe cobra!!! I am over those things - All I want is to farm in peace a material that is not Sulphur or Iron. What does a guy have to do to get some variety up in this galaxy!? Just little somethin' something? Can a brother get some Ruthenium up in here!?

I am sorry, Ive been exploring for over 4 days now and all I can find is Iron and Sulphur. I am starting to go mental!

Why when you guys screw up something have to screw up every damn thing. Why can't I be just a lad out there in the universe far away in the deep darkness just farming? Well, I think idea of concentrated farm in single point is gone. Now you should search whole planet. And yes, you can find all mats just not in single place.
I like that actually, more immersion and realism. If you need mats to recharge weapons to fast kill people - ok, work for it couple days.

I am all over the place, not a single place. I read all the guides... Ive been playing for over 4 days trying to farm going everywhere. I farmed hundreds of crystals!

Nah they just broke "the game".

It is just game, not in life simulator. It have to give fun, not frustration. If i want frustration i can do over hours in work.

Game should be nice visually and fun. If these two things does not work, then why to play?

Utter darkness is also good for immersion and realism? Maybe ond HDR display it would be good. But if it is painful to watch, then it is goddamn waste of time.

Dynamic Contrast? F**K THAT S**T.

Well, I play Elite as life simulator. Because no way I will see other stars close in real life. So I like idea that materials are scattered now as it must be in real world. Also old biogical materials seem redesigned. Now flowers does not produce mats. At least I found that yellow thing and it had no mats into.

Dynamic contrast does amusing things to the flashlight.

Your eyes adapt to the darkness realistically, giving you a trade-off between low-acuity large-scale vision in darkness, and high-acuity near-scale vision with the light on.

That's a positive imo. Patrolling infantry and astronomers often try to avoid bright lights at night for this same reason IRL, and it gives an extra little bit of tactical decision making here. (unless there's something else in the pic I'm missing)

Less cool is when it does the opposite as you walk under a canopy or something in bright daylight. Standing in shadow dims not only your surroundings but the distant, outdoor landscape as well, which if anything, should look brighter by comparison. Pretty stupid.

This right here leads me to believe you might have the wrong systems, though perhaps you went to or started from somewhere else. The old crystalline shard farms were only about half this distance from the bubble.

  • Yttrium - Outotz LS-K D8-3 B 5 A
  • Antimony - Outotz LS-K D8-3 B 5 C
  • Ruthenium - Outotz LS-K D8-3 B 7 B
  • Polonium - HIP 36601 C 1 A
  • Tellurium - HIP 36601 C 3 B
  • Technetium - HIP 36601 C 5 A

2 systems to get everything you need (except Selenium, Thargoid barnacles are best for that). Like others have said, if you hate the idea of a nice drive in the SRV, just switch over to Horizons and stock up while you still can.

There's also the crashed Anaconda in the Pleiades, which may still work as a material farm in Odyssey (though it involves relogging). HIP 16613 system on planet 1 a. I plan on checking it out on my way back from my current expedition to see if it still works in Odyssey.

For now though, I'll just continue to enjoy driving the SRV on newly discovered worlds just for the fun of it.
