Register with AMD FSR to add Elite

with the launch of AMD new fidelityFX FSR, we could be in for some good times. it looks like AMD have something to offer similar to DLSS

to add Elite dangerous to the list of game use the link below

www.amd.com/fsr

I've been on there to request elite dangerous to be added to the list of supporting games.
i have a 2080ti, DLSS isn't working for ED and doesn't look like its coming either..... AMD say fidelityFX FSR will work with AMD & Nvidia cards, this would help massively with the performance issues we are all experiencing with Odyssey.

have a look at the video on the link, there are some serious performance improvements.. not sure what an Nvidia card would manage to achieve obviously

Doesn't matter. All of those new cards will be mining crypto-Monopoly money 10 minutes after the first batch rolls off the production line.

Post Edit: It'll be hilarious the next time the fantasy currencies crash, as they always have, though. The sheer amount of used cards that will appear on eBay will have a combined mass large enough to create a singularity. Advice: Don't buy. They'll be near death from overuse/overclocking.

BlurFX? The demo they did looked horrible and not much innovation in it. You already have TVs that can do a better job with upscaling.

Lets get DLSS instead then.

There are 4 modes of operation for this (need to further research that), I think the demo is using the performance one on a GTX 1060. As you are aware DLSS is only for RTX devices and not GTX, so for the most popular (according to steam) graphics card can get more life out of it. Plus its not tech from Nvidia and can be used in a variety of applications.

FSR is OEM agnostic - DLSS is proprietary and only works on the last two RT capable generations of NVIDIA GPUs - so only a small subset of PC players and no benefit to consoles at all.
That makes no sense when the IQ is degraded so massively. Just run at much lower settings then.

It remains to be seen how the IQ is degraded and, noting that DLSS 1.0 wasn't so great, how it improves as FSR develops
FSR wont improve much or any as it is limited. The technique behind also cant do motion vectors. FSR will forever be the poor mans DLSS. Like AMDs boost that also just lowers IQ quite significantly to increase FPS. If we are in a race to the bottom there are other ways. Blur and smear is not the way.

This isn't something AMD can just add support for without developer cooperation and Frontier have a lot more things to fix with Odyssey before they should be worrying about adding upscalers.

Lets get DLSS instead then.

Even more work, for a much smaller install base.

Given the jaggies in Elite, even that preset would help in a lot of areas.

There are better ways to get higher FPS.

Which is what Frontier should concentrate on first.

And this is the absolute best option for FSR.

Quality is the second best option. Probably half of standard internal resolution.

We'll see, in time, how FSR develops - as yet it is an unknown (in terms of personal experience using it).

As previously mentioned, implementing DLSS would cater to only a subset of players on PC and be of no benefit to console owners - so it doesn't seem to be a very likely candidate for COBRA development effort.
