This game is an utter mess. You couldn’t make it up.

o7 commanders !!

First of my chest before I talk about the horrible issue I encountered is the message I got was greifing is pvp and part of the game from an utter scumbag and that I’m clueless and should uninstall the game. Obviously praying on the weak and getting off on it.

Whatever floats your boat but hear me out and the utter frustration I experienced last night as you really couldn’t make it up. Like must I have a couple hours at most so things take a little longer a bit more planning . I have what’s called a rescue python racked full of passenger cabins , repair and fuel limpet , 3 C bi weave shield , 3 beam lasers and 2 multi cannons rest a rated , thrusters , power plant etc . Spent a great deal of time on it and still has lots to do till it’s complete.

So we where at guardian site miles from nowhere 29 jumps I guess and I was running low on fumes as well as no SRV and both me and friend parked parked up for the night in a fleet carrier ordering bits planetary scanner and SRV. Last night suffered with a few connection issues and seemed to take an age after trying solo, private session and open play we both finally managed to connect to open play although the in game coms was complaining there was no connection. After a few painful minutes we winged up. Thought ok must be still some gremlins but hey we where in !! To my absolute horror when checking to go back to planet the fleet carrier had jumped over 900 lyrs was like oh no you’ve got to be joking ! I really had no inclination to do another 28 jumps. My ocd dictates to not leaving things in space ( can’t be the only person ) if I am then haha

4 jumps to deciat I said let’s go there get experimental drive long range which might cut the jumps down a little for next run. Off we went my friend on jumping to deciat lost connection . I then got immediately interdicted which I tried to evade but lost however went into an uncontrollable spin and frame rate fell off a cliff , realising I was now being attacked. I think I managed to recover from the spin but not sure as went to 40 percent hull and FSD was on cool down. The absolute scrub then finished me with ease in his pramo firing FDL yup as a sitting duck in a pvp death match. So wasn’t happy but and got a few comments my way with best part after telling op to go take a run off a cliff I got reported to Microsoft lol.

But really what made it worse was then after 4 attempts I couldn’t rebuy or order any ship as it kept taking me to the menu quoting transactional error Project scarlet. Ended up giving up. My time is limited don’t need this rubbish as I just want to have a bit fun for the few precious hours I have.

1. Was it a bug and will I get python back at a cost of 7 million ?
2. How on earth does frame rates drop on a Xbox series X ? And uncontrollable spin? what on earth .
3. Has this other player cause or interfered with mechanics completely tipping any chance of escape ?

No idea to any 3. All I can say is that my experience last night was one of the worst since playing games and I am really considering just to quit and move on being utterly frustrated.

Unfortunately threads like these are fans to the flames - players like that delight in seeing people complain about them on forums. They do it to get a reaction.
Unfortunately, again, nobody here can tell you if you can get your ship back, although there is a chance. Only Support can help with that via a support ticket.
The spin/tumbling happens when you're successfully interdicted after trying to fight it. You're far better off submitting, boosting when you drop into normal space and immediately jumping to another system.

No, you got 'ganked'

Dont know. connection problem can cause this
3. Has this other player cause or interfered with mechanics completely tipping any chance of escape ?
Maybe the cmdr rammed you? Or it was a combination of lag and the interdiction

on your rebuy question, there's a good chance you will go to the rebuy screen next time you are able to log on

The griefer can have what little fame there is as personally I don’t care however good idea about support . I’ll try tonight if no joy will raise a ticket as I’m not resetting the game to get a ship and if I do I’ll happily uninstall game.

As why on earth should I not be allowed to rebuy my ship due to project Scarlett ??

Also good tip on interdiction as didn’t know u could do that.

I'm going to guess that what happened here was that you fought the interdiction and lost. What you would have been better doing is submitting and then attempting to high-wake out as this only needs 15 seconds to do (assuming you have a destination pre-selected- pick any system in the nav panel as soon as you see an unknown hollow square, just in case). By fighting the interdiction and losing, the cooldown before you can jump goes up to around a minute and you do crash out in a spin. Perfect for your attacker to line you up and get an easy kill.

I'd also take a look at your build as well. Anything less than a 1000mj shield means you're taking a risk in open, above that you should easily manage to high wake out especially if you have 4 pips to shields.

Don't try and boost away in a straight line either. Likely they will be faster than you, so you're just giving them an easy target. I'd suggest turning around and boosting past them (don't ram!) to try and throw off their aim while you're waiting for the FSD countdown to start.

Oh, and don't head straight back into supercruise either as they'll be right behind you in a couple of seconds.

Fleet carriers can move anywhere when you're not looking as well. All you get is 15 minutes notice as the owner plots the destination. The connection issues look painful though- hope support sort your ship out for you.

Not ganking if it is a 1v1 lol

Learn from the pvp encounter, submit, boost and high wake(dont low wake as they will pull you again), make sure you have countermeasures and be aware of your surroundings.

1. Connectivity issues are frequent these days. I had a few Scarlett Krait errors myself when faced with the rebuy screen. Give it a day or so and you should be able to log in and rebuy the Python.

2. It probably wasn't a case of frame rate dropping but lag from P2P instancing. Chances are the guy who interdicted you had a bad connection or was geographically further away from you. Also, I'm guessing you haven't been interdicted much, if at all before? Upon losing the interdiction, your ship does pitch about somewhat violently. It happens and is as intended.

3. No. Interdictions are heavily weighted in favor of the aggressor. It's virtually impossible to beat one if the CMDR on the other end flies well.

The games not a mess. You went to Deciat, in Open, in a Python equipped with a 3c shield. That's 100% on you. Deciat in Open makes the bar in Mos Eisley look like an ice cream parlour. Next time, stick to PG in hotspots if you are not equipped or experienced enough to deal with random attacks.

The rest sounds like a connection issue & game crash. That happens.

You'll probably log back into the rebuy screen.

Not sure on the difference on ganked or picked on but whatever. For me the balance is to much in favour of the attacker. And yeh i don't tend to bother with pvp unless is maybe in war or cg etc so I thought of going back to cruise mode which didn’t work and 2 late anyway. But defo picking up tips for future which will be practising.

But the real thing that hurt was unable to rebuy ship and continue on playing which is not good enough. As for carrier moving so far away well happy to take full blame on that.

Well, when it comes to being attacked by another Cmdr..

1. This will only happen in a very few predictable systems.

  • certain Engineering systems
  • CG systems
  • certain PP systems
  • guardian sites after new content drops

So, until your equipped, maybe avoid these in Open.

2. The interdiction always favours the attacker, so do not fight it.
  • submitting shortens your FSD cool down and avoids the spinning
  • boosting back past your attacker will gain you time
  • do not low wake back to SC, you'll just get interdicted again
  • high wake to another system

3. Once fully engineered, the conflict favours the defender. There is so much shield/booster bloat, escaping an attack in a properly engineered ship is near 100% successful.

Can someone explain to me why inexperienced new players insist on starting their careers in Open?
Honestly, you don't know what you don't know...and since Open is the default choice, I just think many new players click that bang on. They have no idea that Engineering is a thing, or that there are "player hot spots," or even that you can be interdicted. They can't conceive of why anyone would blow them up for no given reason as, to date, in their in game experience, no one has. And so they wade out of the shallow end, not noticing the hollow triangle behind them - that they've probably never even seen before - and then bam, rebuy screen and confusion.

Deciat in open will cause lag due to the traffic and sheer presence of players.

Put this one down to experience and play in PG if you're social (but not that social).

See....I keep hearing this, but I've only ever run across one other CMDR in Deciat. Dude in a Cutter "hiding" in the canyon waiting to ram kill people on docking or exit. I've never been pulled on even seen any hollow triangles at all. Must just be me. 🤷‍♂️

The starting tutorial doesn't even teach you the pvp basics, what a holo square is etc

It's not just live players, it's fleet carriers, AI traffic, dormant players in stations etc. You should've tried dropping at a popular mining hotspot during the Borann gold rush 😂
