ANNOUNCEMENT Elite Dangerous | Odyssey: Roadmap

Hello FD,

I don'T know, is this the right place for a whish ?

Please don't forget the exploring players, who are in deep spce and don't have the chance to buy an Artemis spacesuit.
Please make it possible that they can get one easily, without fly back to bubble or the "nearest" station.

2 of my commander are in deep Space (both more than 1 year) with more than 40000LY away from bubble.
Their expedition need more time and they cannot come back to a "shop" now.

Some suggestions:
* Apex-Pioneer-Deliveryservice:
We can order an Artemissuit, and it will delivered like a ship. Maybe we have to pay some Credits for each Lightyear (distance to Sol).

* Carrier:
If a carrier has got a Module-Shop, they can offer the Artemis-Spacesuit, too (for example the DSSA-Carrier).

Maybe this function is possible under following rules:
  • Commander must be more than 10000LY away from Sol.
  • Ordering is only 1 time possible by this way for each player.
  • A player doesn't have an Artemis before.

I belive there are more ideas for solving this problem.

Please think about my suggestions.

Thanks for your work and greetings
Nanjan OHare

Concurrent numbers of what? I haven't looked at them. Though since ED runs from a launcher, I'm not sure how Steam is differentiating between the two versions. Also, cool, they got a bunch of people to buy into nonrefundable beta. ...beta might be an understatement.
The fact that then number went up considerably, and still haven't dropped down to Pre-Odyssey levels. At a guess, I would say many are playing Odyssey.

Starting with a monthly community update, we will highlight and share the progress that the development team have been making over that month. We will be sharing more details around this, and other initiatives, over the coming weeks.

Thanks for the Roadmap and the write up Arf. Looking forward to Odyssey being better and better :) The quoted part is great news!

We didn't receive a lot of information.. we only now that once a week there will be a patch.. but how will they change the ui for example? What feedback will be considered and what can't be integrated over the many suggestions provided?
I'm assuming we will find out closer to the time. They are likely still going through all the data.

As an alleged "White Knight", I must admit to finding this "roadmap" very disappointing. One of the main issues is performance, which looks like the next 3 update will "address specific circumstances", and after that we will have to wait until the console launch.

IF these updates get us up to 60Fps at 1080, then fair enough, but there is no obvious committal to this.

I'm lucky, and can play at good framerates now in 2D, but my VR is marginal / Unplayable, which is disappointing, as I bought my VR kit specifically for this game.

TLDR; first 3 updates need to be good re: performance for average player

Hey Braben imagine how much more you'd have enjoyed reading this thread if you'd authorised the release of an actual road map...you know like similar to if you'd released a finished content update and not a beta? I know they're both very tricky decisions...

Maybe a firewall block? did you check it?
Were you able to play odyssey at least once?

if you have a bad connection port forwarding could help..
In case Jellli doesn't respond:
He has 2 copies, the alt fires up no problem, his main not - so there is an issue with his main rather than configuration.
(My main account is in the same squadron so I've been following the story on Discord)

Ladies and gents, calling for employee sackings isn't constructive criticism. The staff at Frontier who are undoubtedly working extremely hard don't want to see it. I don't want to moderate it.
So, to prevent any unnecessary and possibly permanent actions taken against your account, and to save me a lot of work, we'll have none of that.

Thanks.
Daily reminder that you do it for free

Frontier,

Honestly, it doesn't even look like anyone put any particular effort into putting this thing together. I'm not even talking about the contents of it.

I know it isn't personal, but good grief, you must have such a low opinion of me.

You've got the monopoly on semi-realistic space flight models in gaming. For now.

Today, I've decided that the attitude you've demonstrated over the past few years – to your customers, employees and to your product – is no longer something I can conscientiously support.

FWIW, I'll likely use Horizons until another studio breaks your monopoly (or until you inevitably break Horizons). However, I refuse to ever pay you another cent, or recommend anyone else to do so, ever again.

It's nothing personal, but you've lost me as a customer and ambassador.

Regardless, thank you for the fun times through the years.

It's open and honest & (crucially) looks realistically deliverable.

Weekly sprints & monthly direction-setting comms sounds great! Though you'll have to bear with some of us; bit of culture-shock.

If you can stick to your guns, your integrity will either win people over, or at the very least, they'll have no actual ammunition

Are we really surprised it's an MVR? Minimum Viable Roadmap?

Many improvements™ bro.
Let me try and extend that road map for you:

June: Beta will continue to get more bug fixes and further corrections to the broken UI flow.
July: Hopefully stable enough for them actually work on performance for the console release
August: nothing - radio silence while half the dev's have holidays and the rest hack code out to make it playable on consoles.
Sept: Gamma release - massive backlash from PC players due to downgrades required to make console release viable.
Oct: Console release. Servers grind to a halt again. Horizons players express their displeasure at the new UI and new lighting and loss of their fav planets.
Nov: final network fixes to make it stable with players on all platforms and game versions.
Dec: FDev start the hype for a new ship and new SRV's

Personally I'm fed up being a beta tester for FDev. Maybe if they hadn't lied to us by calling the May release a full release when it wasn't even close. Almost 400 bug fixes in 3 hotfixes and two large updates with three more large updates of fixes and adjustments planned. This IS still a Beta phase.
I'm out.

Yup that roadmap sounds about right.

Also after all those hotfix and patches i still crash to desktop when i jump my carrier. I still randomly crash to desktop in AX conflict zones. My ui still locks up when i mouseover my suspended services onboard the carrier. Still get abysmal fps etc etc.

That was, hilarious.
Zac Antonaci answers are disingenuous and very out of touch with reality, it's sad; he actually went out of his way to praised the community managers because they wrote some posts after midnight "in their local time", jesus 😂.

Basically;
"The way we do things is the right way, there is nothing wrong and also, you guys are wrong".

Yes, I’ve tried on three machines all of which other accounts are are able to login on fine, whatever the problem it it isn’t the hardware.

A lot of people commenting here have been asking about where ED is going, and I think to regain some trust it would be nice to know where ED is heading. Once / if the current roadmap is complete, what about the previous five / six years of broken content and features? Will they ever see love now, or are they forever casualties of you fixing newer updates?

Don't think you have to just fix Odyssey, because you have a giant backlog that never went away, you just ignored.
