ANNOUNCEMENT Elite Dangerous | Odyssey: Roadmap

I think my post was in English. Paraphrasing however this tells me only that they intend to work on a few missing features and UI tweaks over the next few weeks and "other stuff" and maybe some "performance stuff". If that strikes you as a roadmap of anything... so be it. It does at least inform us that there are three more weeks of updates coming but after that just 'console launch'.
I can confirm that your post appears to be in a form of english - where 'english' when used to refer to the language itself is not capitalized, according to accepted practice. I used to be a linguist, you see.

And continuing performance improvements...

Yes, it's a snagging list roadmap.

I'm rarely serious when I post here, but I'm actually wondering what people were expecting? A development roadmap instead of a snagging roadmap? Why would that be likely/possible at this point.

Elite Dangerous | Odyssey: Roadmap

Read the title, the "fixing part" is invisible

I can't wait until the first monthly communications update so all of you can see what a farce it will be. We've heard this schtick before. If you think you're going to get insight into the development or what's coming in the future, you're going to be sorely disappointed. Except for you simps, you'd take a smack in the mouth from FDEV and think it's cool.

Side Note: That was the lamest "roadmap" in gaming history.

Which is exactly what I was expecting. I'm not sure what anyone else was expecting, but they said it would be a roadmap of the fixes to odyssey and that's what we got. Why people are so up in arms over something we were told we were going to get, I just don't know.

That's the difference then for me. I had a tiny custom built CRT for years and years (which was insanely hazardous actually).. I used to play Team Fortress 2 on it. Now, I'm totally happy with a 32" 1080p monitor right in my face...

I must never expose myself to 4k I see, or my simple adulation of this low resolution setup shall become as unremarkable to me as the tasteless acquisitions made in yesteryears mall. Alas, Avarice, and the bane of ashes that pursue his every step. But that is unrelated, I don't mean that having a 4k monitor is avaristic, lol :)
Having had 1080p screens for a long time, getting the 4K screen was a real "WOW!" moment - until I ran a game in 1080 - washed out and very fuzzy!
No, don't get one unless you have lots of brute performance for those 'reluctant' games that hammer GPUs in 4K (I have a couple that are incredibly poorly optimised in 4K, not just Odyssey).

Once Odyssey is sorted out there won't be any issues, the interim I'll bleat more to me than here for not getting that 3080 last year when they were available for retail prices... :ROFLMAO:

Greetings Commanders,

As mentioned in David’s forum post on 25th May, we would like to share our immediate roadmap for Odyssey and talk a little more about performance and improvements as we move towards the console release later this year.

We’d like to take a moment to thank everyone for their patience and understanding while we review your reports and feedback. We’ve been working hard to address critical issues - Update 2 went live yesterday, which followed Update 1, the previous 2 hotfix updates and server and stability fixes deployed in May. We have been seeing some awesome content shining through from Odyssey, but we know there’s still work to be done to make the experience as good as it can and to further address feedback.

To that end, here’s a short summary of our immediate roadmap of updates and the key focuses within them.

  • Update 3 – Thursday 10th June
    • Many improvements and fixes, including
    • Loadout UI flow changes
    • Adding earned ARX for on-foot gameplay
  • Update 4 – Thursday 17th June
    • Many improvements and fixes, including
    • Suit Livery UI flow changes
    • Codex CMDR stats
  • Update 5 – Thursday 24th June
    • Many improvements and fixes, including
    • Shared missions
    • Galaxy & system map UI updates
    • Outfitting UI updates
Each of Updates 3 to 5 will be of a similar size to Updates 1 and 2, and contain fixes and enhancements to the overall Odyssey player experience, including incremental performance issues for specific circumstances and/or system configurations.

Planetary geometry and lighting is a topic that we know is close to the hearts of many of our explorers, and is something we are looking carefully at. We will of course, continue to update you over the coming weeks as those investigations progress.

While we are expecting to see specific and targeted performance improvements in the upcoming June updates, we are also aware that development work for console will allow for even larger performance optimisations and enhancements for PC too. Therefore, we feel the best approach for all our Commanders will be to focus our development efforts after Update 5 on performance and the console release, and to bring our multi-platform community together once more, which will also allow us to bring even more global optimisation changes and updates to all Elite Dangerous Commanders.

Finally, we would also like to address the topic of communication. We are aware that many of you have been asking about greater communication, visibility and a change on how we share and update Elite Dangerous moving forward. While we do always try to give as clear a vision for the future as possible, such as Horizons or Beyond season roadmaps, we also must accept that this alone has not hit the mark. Our community have always been the beating heart of Elite Dangerous and we take the feedback very seriously. We are going to be working on new plans and initiatives that we can do to bring you even more in touch with our development progress. Starting with a monthly community update, we will highlight and share the progress that the development team have been making over that month. We will be sharing more details around this, and other initiatives, over the coming weeks.

Once again, we would like to thank you all for your patience, understanding and support as we continue to work hard to unlock the great potential of Odyssey for all Commanders.

If you’re ever wondering when to capitalize English, when you’re talking about the language or the nationality, the answer is always “yes.” Although people writing casually online often lowercase the word, it is a proper noun and therefore requires a capital letter.

So we did ALPHA in april and now we're in BETA until console launch this fall. Nice.

Nope, didn't miss that marketing-ease at all, did you fall for it? Let's be CRYSTAL CLEAR - performance issues are NOT on the "Roadmap" - they are an after thought. If they were part of the roadmap one of them would list

"Major performance issues resolved"

Or something like that - as of course they're going to say that minor fixes and performance updates will come with each, again that's MARKETING. So I guess we'll see - wanna bet me $100 that performance isn't truly resolved until console launch? Yeah, I didn't think you would want to, I wouldn't take that bet with me....

~X
I did not fall for anything, as I've said that I'm not happy with the roadmap either in that very part you quoted in your reply, but I guess reading is hard.
Anyways, glad to see you completely ignored the part concerning the toxic behaviour of a certain side of the community, as I would have expected.

RANT ON :
Hahaha so this is a statement: "While we are expecting to see specific and targeted performance improvements in the upcoming June updates, we are also aware that development work for console will allow for even larger performance optimisations and enhancements for PC too."
So finally you assume that you have taken us for pigeons and made us pay a beta for 47 euros/usd?
Please whoever made the decision, don't do it again because you'll lose a lot of people.
RANT OFF.
Thanks for the roadmap, I hope like everyone else that Elite gets back on track, present us with gameplay improvements, lowing the grinding, let's go crazy for novelty and fun with new interaction and mechanic.
Listen to the community, prepare content videos on Elite, "show don't tell", show that the game is still in Frontier's heart.
And trust will return and so will the customer.
