ANNOUNCEMENT Elite Dangerous | Odyssey: Roadmap

That is surely a silly point of view. You're saying they should nominate a date that they wave a wand over the odyssey code and all performance issues are magically and "truly resolved". That's idiotic. You're saying Frontier are being dishonest. I think you're wrong and that your post reads like it was written by a spoilt child. From where I sit it seems like you and Obsidian Ant are attacking and damaging the game, Frontier are trying to fix it.
So you don't think Frontier was dishonest when they sold this beta for $40? Lol, ok. 🤪. Also, I would hardly consider what Obisidan Ant and Exigeous are saying as "damaging to the game", who's acting like a spoiled child now.

Odyssey (or Elite, for that matter) will (hopefully!) never be complete and in finished condition. And I have no problem with that. Anything less would mean the game would grind to a halt, which would pretty much mean the death of the game. Let me just say this: all you misanthropes and small-minded hacks who are now getting all worked up over technicalities can't drag this game into the mud. You're only doing that to yourselves. I hope you all enjoy your misery.

Strangely, I just remembered using those exact words when the community was in a similarly depressed state. So I know all too well what's coming up for me now. So, don't even try. Because it's starting to amuse me.
You deserve so much better than this. Goodbye.

I was hoping for something like this:

Take out the dates and 'Many improvements...' and that leaves 7 lines of text. For a roadmap.

You had that from the David Braben already. Stop whining.

Oh grow the hell up. :)
Any particular reason you feel the need to tell me that for having an opinion which differs from yours?

If you are genuinely happy with Odysee and F-Dev's handling of the release then that's fair enough, but you shouldn't seek to invalidate the experiences of others, or their legitimate grievances.

TLDR; right back at ya, bunty.

please don't change it too far from what we have now. I've spent the last week just exploring the bubble and the outcry over flat, boring colored planets is completely unjustified. The only thing that should be addressed on the visuals is the repetition of terrain brushes and large sections of landmasses. This becomes very visable when using the surface scanner and filters
Likewise, only I went much, much farther afield. IMO it's not the planets that need the most work, it's the lighting on everything else. The white blob neutron stars, the dim background MIlky Way and nebulae, etc. are more in need of fixing than the planets. They could add some base color to a few types so they aren't one mostly gray rock after another, but the overall planet tech has really grown on me. I truly enjoy flying down to look at many of them, even if others are absolute dogs.

Do you enjoy weekly reading "Fixed X everywhere" only to find 2/3rds of the places you reported that specific issue remain unfixed, and the last place was "fixed" so it is just differently wrong? For instance, the station hologram view is still 90 degrees off - just along the rotation axis now. "Back" doesn't work everywhere, but a couple more places. Interaction with map widgets still has side effects, but the commodity category selector in particular is cleaned up. You can still get stuck in the taxi, but it now refuses to go a few more places.

This is precisely why you have an acknowledgement and retest step in a real issue tracker. Fdev doesn't.

I get it, you are frustrated because a specific bug ( your wording not mine ) has not been fixed.

I feel sorry for you, but maybe that specific issue is not that important. As in game breaking important.
Maybe its not that easy to fix, and some more concerning bugs need to be fixed first?

And you did not answer my question, in wich way you find the wording of the roadmap offensive? As in directly insulting you?

While the gesture is appreciated, I also find this to be quite vague. The communication is a step in the right direction, but you're still holding your cards too close to the chest, FDev.

This is a very short-term roadmap. I was expecting the plan over the next 6 months up to the console release. Hopefully well get more information towards July.

My biggest fear is that, in order for the game to be playable for consoles.
( remember, same game for everyone)

They will tone down some features. Like they did the planets in Horizons at release. ( beige planets, remember?)

It's not that it's different from mine, though it is, it's just that I felt the point you were making was a silly one. David Braben apologised for the bad experience but not the "cause" of the bad experience wasn't it? I'm sorry but when I read that it reminded me of arguments I had long, long ago with my brother at the dinner table. But perhaps it's just me.....

In the absence of crossplay, the only things that have to remain compatible are the stellar forge and BGS (and for the life of me, I cannot see any reason to maintain the cross platform nature of BGS). Consoles are a great excuse for poor UI/UX decisions, and for vague issues like the beige plague, but an excuse is what they are.

Stuck in taxi is game breaking, for starters. And I listed four specific issues as examples.

The insulting part is the corporatese "we hear your complaints. you are very important. we do better." Not too much because of the message, but because it's been repeated - without even adjusting it to respond to why people are upset a single time - time and time again.

I acknowledge that I am upset, and likely to make unkind and even sometimes inaccurate interpretations. That does not mean I don't have a point.

Exactly, the MSFS gives the next 4 months of look ahead and most of that is when additional communication is happening. FDev gives us 3 week look ahead of we're fixing bugs. We all knew you would be fixing bugs for way longer than 3 weeks.
