Does anyone know if these graphics are normal or a bug, just curious.

You have to switch from analysis mode to combat mode while flying and this is the analysis mode (looks like all blue on planet) when you send drones on a planet for a detailed planet scan ; )

yeah the LODs seem to be broken as hell... with ultra for cpture you dont see this nonsense basically at all (or very occasionally). Same goes for those geographical features that are visible from orbit but conveninetly disappear when you land. I suspect the LODs are broken and not generated correctly, some are too low res and many of the details dont match the real geometry (-> disappearing hill). with u4c you force remove almost all LOD steps and see the planets in their full glory. I hope they fix that in upcoming months, cuase not everyone can afford turn u4c on for gameplay.

Analysis mode.
The blue is a heatmap of whatever geo or bio feature is on the planet. In probe firing mode you can cycle through the individual things and see the map change - i.e. Bacteria/shrubs/cactoid/whatever.
It starts as a low rez bitmap overlaid on the planet and resolves more dense as you get closer*. Pale blue is sparse, darker blue you can't move for tripping over the things (except bacteria patches, damn hard to find them). Clear is nothing to be found.
It actually does work pretty well and I've been finding all manner of plants with it.

*Not sure if this is intentional as for me the planet terrain LOD is similar and really janky with it's step changes as you approach, and really obvious the planets are tile skinned. Plus the 'wait, there was a canyon there visible from orbit. Where's it gone?'

While that does look bad, mine has never looked like that, this is more normal for me, often it looks less pixelated depending on the lod level.

Do you have details on the shot, body size, type, distance away and I will try and get a shot with closer matching details, is it H or O you are in?
