Big Elite Streamers Giving Up On Streaming Elite?

Why Elite Week, they have like 1600 subscribers? Exagious and OA have made it quite clear what they presently think of ED and Obsidian makes videos on many other games now. He apparently sees the writing on the wall and is slowly moving his followers onto other games as well as increasing his viewers.
Let them be Yamik's tools if it is as you are suggesting.

Let them be Yamik's tools.
Indeed Brother, praise Lord Braben. Retribution is nearly at hands !

As a general genuine question- do streamers have an effect on sales? How effective are they?

They can launch obscure indie game into orbit, basically.
More than 100 million downloads in September alone with 1.5 million concurrent player, Among us has quickly become a gaming phenomenon. Although the game was released in 2018, it has only attracted rapid popularity recently with unpredictable organic growth

Because that's what youtube seems to think I NEED to know about 🤷‍♂️ and because Elite Week seems to have the only ED console representation to a mainstream audience

Exegious last recorded Twitch stream was 9 days ago.
Obsidian Ant gave up on recording Elite Dangerous on Twitch. Last one was 5 years ago lol.
Elite Week, only has 2 videos posted on Twitch, last on was 3 days ago discussing Road Map, not even playing, same for the second one. So not really a Twitch Streamer.
Burr Pit, doesn't even have Twitch channel.

So yea, everyone gave up pretty much.

Even Malic - the top ED streamer, reduced his ED hours by half, but for other reasons not related to the game ( i hope).

Also Frontier last week switched to Horizon for Thursday stream, because of the fiasco that was the Thursday before. Hopefully they learned how to play the game by now.
Yea I don't use twitch because I hate it's console app version. So none of twitchs stats mean anything to me nor am I concerned with how recently any of them posted last. All I'm saying is, I'll care about it when content creators I care about abandon ship. Novel concept, isn't it?

Horizon was boring to watch - constant jumping from system to system, and well space battles are very generic, you either Engineer the heck out of your ship to become invinsible or you die quickly.

For Odyssey it's very different now. You got really beautiful Planets with Atmosphere and exciting exploration of settlements and fighting or sneaking through hordes of NPC's. KatsPurr is a good example of an exciting Odyssey stream on Twitch, while Malic_VR is more in to Science and Lore.
Nothing to me is more boring than watching someone play first person shooters. Watching some of Obsidian‘s exploration videos made me want to engage with the game again.

I'll let you in a secret. Before odyssey was released, there were some credible leak about "project watson". Eventually, Watson is the name that is sometimes heard by Dr Ross and other for Odyssey, and most of the leaks became true, or at worst, are hinted by the game (like multiple RSV).
Anyway, one of the thing leaked was base building.

As it happens, we have "useless" vehicle and building schematic for material. While we use weapon schematic to engineer our weapon.

I let you do the rest of the thinking :)

D2EA is more, well, down to Earth. So he's not going into the drama, but stuff like this might trigger him in some way.

I honeslty don't think it was made to be more grindy as he suggest. But that it's only part of something that was cut.

The main thing they messed up with all the useless mats is having them and shared storage - so you can waste time collecting things that actively stop you collecting things you want. If it was per-mat limited (as in EDH) then you'd fill it up (like I have with Thargoid Wakes, for example) then stop.

I feel at least some of the useless stuff will be used for CGs etc, so am not too fussed. Apart from CGs for foot-mats will not work as who will empty their engineering-foot-mat stores to take part in a CG?

Oh fdev.

Fdev has specifically made every aspect of the game a grind in place of more activities, you think this was somehow accidental? We still have tharg mats that serve no purpose from horizons don't we? Even if they initially hintended to do something, do they have a history of finishing things they start or leaving them only partially completed for years?

I'm not saying anything is impossible but a lot of things involving frontier seem improbable

They throw things in to be like real life - where not everything is useful. I don't think there's any malice to it. Having useless stuff in games goes back to the early days of gaming 🤷‍♀️

Though whether we needed quite so much useless stuff ... it does feel like they had great fun making up names and never stopped to think how it would actually work for players.
