It makes me sad, that Starfield have something I miss in Elite.

Heh, it’s a game ... I’m not losing sleep over it ... but I’m disappointed in them, none the less. Kinda par for the course of MS, though, so not hugely surprised.

Will be interesting to see what happens when/if the next Elder Scrolls game is announced. If that becomes a PC / XBox exclusive (and I fully expect MS to stick to form on that ...) then I think there will be rather more noise about it.

I really want Sony to buy Bungie and then make the next Halo a PS Exclusive. I mean, I have no interest in player Halo but it would be f***ing hilarious! 😂
You are proving yourself to be a bit... Ill-informed, aren't you?

Bungie hasn't had anything to do with Halo for years. It's 343 Industries now, which was another studio made by Mocrosoft. (In this case specifically for the Halo franchise)

And I think most of the world that cares about TES has long accepted TES6 will be Windows-exclusive.

I mean, it's not like Bethesda already had a huge a Microsoft bias anyway...

Cool looking black holes, for example. Or space exploration that is actually more dangerous than just crashing into a sun because of micro-sleep.

All the space footage on that video was from Space Engine so we actually have no idea how black holes are going to be represented in Starfield.

Fair play - didn’t know Bungie had relinquished Halo but I think you understood my point despite pretending not to.

Not really.

Business is business.

We are not owed anything as to where a game releases.

Learnt that over a decade ago when my favourite franchise ever suddenly and inexplicably shifted from PlayStation to Xbox. (Ace Combat)

(And since Ace Combat 6 being Xbox only, is now multi-plat, but my point is, don't think your games are safe on your platform with 100% certainty. Stuff changes)

Stuff most certainly changes - including my opinions of developers.

The funny thing is that this is exactly what Microsoft was likely counting on when they bought out Zenimax.

Drumming up emotions tends to eventually draw people over. Give it time, because as you know, TES6 is the big one. There'll be anger but there'll be little anyone can actually do other than never play or buy a Windows system of some sort.

It really is no different to what Sony has been doing for years. Eventually, the competition was gonna' retaliate. And they did, hard.

Ah, ok. thx

No problem, I also look to Starfield with interest, although if it remains console only I will probably never play it, but it's worth keeping up with what's happening, steadily improving games by other makers eventually creates pressure for all games to be better, you have to compete or you start losing players.

Sure, Sony have always had plenty of “exclusives” that were either developed “in-house” or announced from Day 1 as a PS exclusive.

I’m not aware of Sony buying another developer and then announcing exclusivity for a previously announced game.

And if MicroSoft thinks I’ll by an XBox or a PC just for TES6 they will be sadly mistaken. Monopolistic behaviour should absolutely not be rewarded.

That said, the one thing that might cause me to buy a PC is the frankly ridiculous cost of current-gen console games. Far Cry 6 (UE) is £100!!

I find this interesting as the cost of games has roughly stayed the same for along as I can tell over the last almost 20 years. I definitely remember buying new ps2 games for $60usd on release. That's how much gta5 was on ps4. I'm a little more surprised that they haven't been going up more frequently.

Also last time I was at the store the ps5 games were $10 cheaper than the ps4 games. I'm assuming this is because ps5 are almost nonexistent and no one buys the games.

That’s the PS Store price ... although I personally feel digital downloads should be cheaper than physical copies since there’s zero overheads for printing, packaging and distributing and no end store to take a cut ...

PS3 games were RRP 39.99 and PS4 games were £49.99 to maybe £54.99 for some titles. PS5 seem to start at £59.99 if you’re lucky with various “editions” marked at anything up to £84.99 and now, apparent. £99.99!! At least for RRP, that is ... and they sit at RRP on the PS Store for ages.

Obviously there are deals to be had at Amazon, Argos, etc from time to time.

No I was quoting physical store prices from gamestops and best buys and such. I didn't start buying digital until ps4.

I agree completely that digital versions should cost less than physical copies but it would probably be the end of physical copies as they are inferior. If my digital copy is corrupted I can delete and reinstall but if my disc breaks or gets scratched I have to buy the game again. Owning a physical copy should make the digital copy free also imo but I understand how easily manipulated that could be

While I'm very looking forward to the possible unveiling of Skyrim in Space, and even got a new spark of faith in Bethesda that I had lost over the past half decade, truth is we know absolutely nothing about Starfield, so I have really no expectations of any kind at the moment. Let's see what tomorrows possible unveiling will tell (17:00 GMT I think).

11/11/22 release date, exactly 11 years after Skyrim
Yeah I remember that 11/11/11 skyrim countdown site, with Alduin's Wall on the background... I had absolutely loved TES4 Oblivion like no other game until then, and as a big fan of norse landscapes and settings I don't think I was ever as excited for a game as I was for Skyrim back then. Even now I still play it every once and a while.

Of course none of this matters now, and Starfield is a brand new franchise, but I'm looking forward to know more about it.
