General / Off-Topic Greatest Space Movies of All-Time "Opinions"

For me the original Alien film I think but I always liked (and I will get laughed out of the park for this one) Disneys The Black Hole. It had great effects and the sense of size you got of the USS Cygnus was fantastic. I can remember playing Elite on the BBC 'B' and thinking Generation ships must be something like that.

I can't decide between Alien or Aliens, but it's one of those. And btw The Black Hole was a good fun film.I went to the pictures 4 times to see it with my cousin.

Well not a space movie, but a tv series, Star Fleet, was done with puppets, i loved the hell out of it, every saturday morning at 7am i was ther in front of the TV

Apollo 13
Because this is a movie in which most of the action takes place in outer space... but it's not science fiction.
It's a historical drama.
That is just too cool for words.

How about Apollo 18 then?

Blade Runner is not set in space, but the Replicants are coming from outside colonies in space. Not a 100% space movie in a classical sense... ok ;)

Apollo 13, great movie.

I really enjoyed Outland back in the day, and Star Wars and Silent Running.

As for Starship Troopers, I think it's one of the worst adaptations of one of the greatest books. ;)

'Prometheus' in 3D
'Something, Something, Something, Dark Side'
'Blue Harvest'
'Star Trek' (2009)
'Gravity'
'Alien vs Predator Requiem'

Sry i havnt updates this yet ive been working and tryin to get in Beta 3 time like the rest of ya, thx for the submissions tho and ill add as many as i can to the list

In case nobody's mentioned it already (;)) Blade Runner isn't a space movie: it's actually a cop movie that just happens to be set in a future where space travel is common.

My list would change on pretty much a daily basis, but today consists (for varying reasons) of:

Apollo 13
Contact
Galaxy Quest
Event Horizon
Alien
Fifth Element

Vlodec

The definitive list is......

1. 2001
2. Forbidden Planet
3. Babylon 5
4. Aliens
5. Flash Gordon
6. Wrath of Khan
6. Outland

And the best Sci Fi film never made is............Lord of Light.. No question.

Maybe not the "best" but worth looking at

There's a lot of good space sci-fy movies out there, but one that got my attention, and I always get back to: The Chronicles of Riddick (2004)

79 posts and no one mentioned Farscape?
Well, that's fixed now. :) With the new BSG it's my favourite TV show, I've watched the whole series three or four times now. It looks like the movie (and the comic book I guess) Guardians of the Galaxy were heavily inspired by Farscape.
