Increase Exoscanner radius

It is hard to spot bacteria with the acustic feedback of the scanner, because the radius is too small.
If you could enlarge it to 1km, it would be not just aimlessly running around.

I klm radius is huge, I mean really huge, I like the fact it at least takes a bit of skill now to find stuff during exploration....I just use my ship and fly over the ground at around 60mps and look down, usually done with bacteria in a couple of minutes

I would like to do it a little bit like the radar in the SRV.
The closer you get, the more the signal intensifies.
I usually land and send the ship away.

I used to search with the SRV, but I find it's much faster in the ship, of course that depends on having a ship with good downward visibility, they don't all have that.

I would use the observationdeck, but ship interiors are not implemented.
I use the SRV turret usually and react on blinking of the crosshair for hard to see bacteria spots.
But I would find it nice to just walk around. And I have the scanner with audio feedback. But at this state I dont need it at all. Because when the ping reacts on the specimen, I am standing on it. It would make sense to hear the specimen before I see them. Not long long after.

Btw. 1km was just an example. Whats the whole point in the honk and the feedback (honkback?) If it is not pointing me in some direction and intensifiying as I come close?

I too would like to see an increase of the range of the handheld scanner or have another scan mode on the SRV for bio scans.

Currently, I’m pretty much relying on the most powerful scanner in the Elite universe, the MKI Eyeball. Flying or driving around using the MKI to detect Biologics. It’s a bit ridiculous as most of the planets I’ve visited are barren Ice or desert balls with spots of growth. I would assume that by the 34th century we would have mechanical scanners that could easily pick up bio signatures.

Bacteria are the worst. They are supposed to be abundant but most of the time they blend with the ground terrain and seem to be spaced way far apart.

I don't think the range needs to be changed, but a bio scanner for the SRV is really necessary. Exo is half implemented at the moment and needs to be fleshed out.

They should just appear on the SRV's wave scanner. No need for a separate bio scanner.
I am thinking same scanner, but toggle between bio and geo displays. The scanner is full as it is with geo bands from top to bottom, adding bio as well would be hard to read. We can wish for anything we want, because FDev is not likely to do anything but leave bio half complete anyway.
