SUIT SCHEMATICS need more love!

Getting Weapon Schematics, Energy Regulators, aso is a common grind and may be acceptable. But to get Suit Schematics is really a mess. In settlements where schematics are to get, most of the time are Building Schematics or the other types of schematics to get, but barely a suit schematic. Meanwhile I spent a week with a full 8 to 10 hours shift of playing ELITE just to get about 5 suit schematics, but earned more than 70 weapon schematics. There is no balance in this.
Frontier, please check this out and bring more balance in the drops of the schematics.
Or give us additional places to find suit schematics, similar to the pirate storage POI on planets for weapon schematics.

This is probably going into my big tips list but one thing I didn't know until this week was that Military STO buildings differ to those at extraction or industrial or high tech. They actually contain a number of tech lockers, which is where you get schematics from. I got a bunch of suit schematics from there.

The only reason these are imbalanced with weapon schematics is due to IMs. Otherwise, it's fine. Not against the idea of having these given a specific location like IMs as well. Just wanted to share because I don't think everyone knows the above (even if you do :))

If you think about it you will see dev logic:
3 suit types and 13 weapon types. So, suit schematics are roughly needed four time less. Throw 3 more random schematics that are not used for anything in the mix just for the grind/gamble purpose.

P.S. Those are also rewarded in missions, but the best I've seen is 2 after "negotiations" cough....cough...gamble with the NPC mission giver.

Yeah, they're impossible to get ... oh wait ..

They're also pretty common in tech lockers at the PWR building in mining settlements that have no CMD building. I have two suits at G5 and one at G4, with 22 more suit schematics on hand. I can't remember ever having to scramble to get more.

This is actually a pretty good point that I'd not thought of. That said, I think most of us won't be building 13 G5 weapons (I've done 4 so far). It's still a good point though.

I think it's one of those things where YMMV. I thought they were rare when I was looking to upgrade my Mav suit but now it's G5 I'm swimming in suit schems.

Generally, I gather them as I go, at roughly the same pace as Power Generators, which is handy since you need both in equal quantities.

However, the unfriending of Sirius threw away that entire balance. I'm now swimming in Power Generators without the matching numbers of Schematics. 😂

My plans are 2 mavericks and 2 dominator suits.(one Maverick left to complete) As for weapons x2 Executioner, x1 Tormentor (those three I already have), x1 Intimidator.
So my ratio is actually 1:1

I will probably do also L-6, Aphelion and AR-50 the laser and kinetic pistols but with normal gameplay in the next years.

I can't imagine I'll be making more suits than what I have in future but much more likely to make weapons so I'm unsure if we do need more suit schems in the game. It was a small bottle neck when I got to building my G5 upgrades though. Not a huge one.

Not a pharmaseutical isolators/datamined wakes, sort of bottleneck, definitely.

I have run across more suit schematics than weapon schematics, and there’s a lot more weapons to upgrade. They seemed more common as mission rewards, as well.

Admittedly. I haven’t looked into targeting specific loot, that’s just how it developed.

From my playing, I am not really being held up by particular items (other than for engineer unlocks, which I am not paying attention to). I actually got most of the schematics, manufacturing instructions, and power regulators I needed, but what held me back was tradable stuff. (E.g., since I was upgrading two plasma weapons, chemical superbase.)

The comments in the alpha about manufacturing instructions had an effect - I am swimming in those. Getting 5 as a mission reward does the job. If they added more multiple schematic mission rewards, they’d be a non-issue for me.

Thanks for the reply's. As I read above it seems so, that I was at wrong settlements. I checked out mining, military, research and other settlements the last days. Will see if I can find some mining without a CMD building and check out the STO at military....

Just don't forget to go to the CMD building in the military settlement too :) It'll have the large tech locker in the OPR room which will also have several schematics (all down to RNG of course, but I've often cleaned up in that room alone).

Something is rather wrong with the RNG for Suit schematics.

Atm i have:
  • 2 Suit Schematics (1 G5 suit plus 1 G4 -both upgraded from G3, then 2 G3 Suits upgraded from G2)
  • 63 Weapon Schematics (1 G5 weapon, 2 G4 weapons - upgraded from G3, then 2 more weapons upgraded from G2 to G3)
  • 40 Building Schematics
  • and 4 Vehicle and 3 Ship Schematics

That's a lot of suit schematics in upgrades right there. It doesn't sound particularly wrong to me a few weeks after launch, considering we're likely to only ever upgrade so many suits. I'm on a G5 Mav here, upgraded from G3, and will do others over time. It's not plentiful but it does accumulate over time, as your upgrades seem to show.

These large tech lockers at military settlements I opened a lot. But for me, only 2 times one suit schematics was there. On the other hand, now I own a bunch of ship, vehicle and bulding schematics - may be they become useful one day...
Sometimes these lockers were complete empty. 😒

As I said, just RNG :) If you don't open them though, you'll never find out. Every single item in that locker can be a SS though. I've seen it throw up 4-5 at a time.

That's a lot of weapon upgrades as well, actually more upgraded weapons than suits.. yet i still have 60 more weapon schematics than i have suits schematics.
