It says that it's not being worked on right now and it's not in the plan right now. Just the same as space legs wasn't part of the immediate plan in 2015.
It means, the earliest the situation might change, is when new plans are made, which might take a while.
Since there is most likely no plan for making a new plan, nothing can be said about it yet.
Jesus Christ, I am so glad that when I came here to make this point, you already had.

I get the disappointment. I am disappointed too. I am a Lifetime Expansion Pass holder, a kickstarter and a 1984'er. I use VR, I wanted Odyssey to be VR compatible. But sometimes, I feel like it is like listening to a load of lovesick teenagers begging for a girlfriend to take them back. "You promised.", "You lied." blah blah blah. It just sounds so pathetically teenage. Come one..!

We want VR for every aspect of ED, obviously. Only an idiot wouldn't. The fact FD haven't included it from the start is bizarre. I'm not a developer, I can't understand the complexity. I assumed the complexity was down to incorporating VR controllers, which I don't care about in the least. It clearly isn't as there is no need to make the on-foot game VR controller compatible inho, I only care about the visuals...

HOWEVER, VR in Odyssey was never 'promised', we assumed (which makes an ass of u and me). Let's hope they care how important VR is to the tiny minority of us who use it and incorporate it in the future. ED is a VR users dream, it's a terrible shame to see Odyssey 'hamstrung' in this way, but there's a lot more work to be done before they'll consider it, so keep making your voices heard in a mature and consistent way and maybe we will see our wishes granted in the future. Calm, mature pressure helps us all to stay enthused and reasonable, enjoying the game as it grows, while we keep throttling FD and telling them we want VR across the board. Otherwise, bye Felicia.

I understand that it might not be what you want to hear, but it is definitely the truth. I can't give you a definitive answer if VR will be developed further on or not, because that is the answer. At the moment it's not planned. It may be in the future. It may not. Not everything is set in stone.
I think it is an understatement to say that it is not what the VR community wants to hear. The thing is that many of us originally bought Elite specifically because of the VR support. (For me personally I was specifically browsing Steam for VR games when I picked up Elite.)

I believe we all understand that with the current state of Odyssey, a lot of resources have to be spent on fixing what is broken and I do not even want to imagine the frame rate in FPS gameplay in a VR rig that needs to render twice as many images as a pancake rig. However, to have the "no current plans" that more often than not has translated to "never" hanging over us is hugely disappointing. I would say even more so than the PSVR implementation mentioned by someone else. The VR community loves many aspects of the game precisely because it has VR. To then have a DLC where the immersion and "Armstrong moment" is something developers have been pushing without VR or even the prospect of knowing that it is something that will at least be looked at once the main issues and the console release are out of the way gives a feeling of having the game you love largely taken away from you.

Console players know that Odyssey is coming to them eventually. VR players have no such assertion or even statements to effect of "we will look at the possibility of implementing it after X Y Z has occurred". Meanwhile, we still have to buy Odyssey if we want to continue playing with our pancake friends ...

I do think that, considering the investment in the game and in VR equipment that VR users have made, that the dialog has been remarkably civil.

There are already delays to the patches and that was only 4 weeks in. Patch 5 is delayed by a week. I'm taking an estimate here but it'll be lucky if the console launch makes if for Christmas and for once I hope they do delay it if it's not finished properly because they will suffer even more from player dissatisfaction if they don't!

I have my doubts that odyssey will ever get to prev gen consoles, at least without severely castrating the graphics

Perfect comment 👏👏👏

Well Well Well, no further development of VR? I don't even like playing the game without VR. So here is the deal FDev. there will be no further development of cash from my wallet for future ED paid updates. I don't even like your on foot stuff so as long as what is currently offered remains in VR I'll play it But you have got your last dime from me if future stuff does not have it.

@Zac Cocken i welcome your comments on VR even if they are not what I want to hear and must say cannot understand Frontiers decision. Having missed last nights live stream can you please confirm exactly what bug fixes are being looked at for us VR users and if Odyssey frame rates are being looked at for VR use. @Arthur Tolmie promised on stream a VR Question thread that he would get feedback from Devs on. I think this is now more important than ever so we know what is being fixed and where it leaves us. Regards bug fixes I’m not looking at dates just what is on the list.

They mentioned the DSS. Performance in general will be the focus leading up to console launch.
