Elite / Frontier Why no Elite Collection?

I was looking through my old games today and I found the X-Wing: Collectors Edition which was a collection of updated versions of the X-Wing and TIE Fighter games designed to work on Windows instead of DOS.

Then I got to thinking about other DOS games that were updated to windows and I find myself wondering why none of the Elite games were ever updated for Windows. I think a nice Elite for Windows collection would have been a good filler til Elite 4 shows up.

We have occasionally discussed updating the previous games but we have always come to the conclusion that we prefer to spend the time and effort working towards Elite IV instead.

Excellent idea... **taps foot**. A bit like going on a blind date, meet under the clock, wearing a funny hat, where is she? Still waiting lol

I think an 'official' re-release of frontier would be a great idea, especially if the graphics could be updated (and I would love it for x-box live (I know it's been mentioned before somewhere)).

I know the argument against is that it'll take time, but the argument for would be the extra revenue it'll generate which can then be piled into Elite IV.

Okay, I admit, I just want to play frontier on my big telly.

I wish someone would remake X-Wing and TIE Fighter with shiny new gfx!

How long would it actually take to give Frontier a spit and polish to make it look like a modern game? Just a gfx update, that's all. After FIFTEEN years, it's the least we can expect!

They did do a Collectors Edition with updated graphices, You'll probably have torun it in dos box though.

Oh yes, I know about that. What I meant was updated with nowaday's tech. When are they going to stop faffing around with the Old ****** Republic and release another Star Wars game set in space!?

IIRC I do believe it's Elite's 25 Anniversary this sept/oct.

I think Frontier have missed an opportunity to remind the public what the Elite game are.

After all the names are more associated with other game or the 360 console.

We do have the three unofficial games.

Oolite

Gl frontier

FFE 3D

But I for one would have paid good money for a nice new shiny box set of the games.:D
