Not quite ready to go there yet, because that surely would melt my rig with the current code mess, but I did learn something interesting:

Although the Launcher from Hell didn't appear to find anything objectionable, it DID wipe out my planet shaders, just like it did to @Just, so it had to regenerate (no big deal).

I think therein lies the trick and that Just was right about the patch forgetting to update those as well.

Yep. My idea here (prolly talking out my ARX, though, as I so often do ), is that today's update should have done that, but failed to do so in some cases, for reasons only known to Brebus. Doing the validate jig then forced it to start from scratch, fixing the problem.

I'm married to a primary school teacher... and spend much of my time on the naughty step... :-/ ...and those minutes really add up at my age!!!
