State of the Game

one can imagine a game where you have the distance between bodies take time... and wait ..now this is where it gets crazy complicated.

You do things during that journey that fall within the general idea of gameplay.

This goes on for much of the time spent getting to the next body so that the entire journey is less about "taking time" and basically just the game you are playing.

Now i can understand if that concept is above your ability to comprehend. It's obviously above Fdev's. But i assure you, it's not magic.
I wasn't look to have my point proven... but thanx :p

people want immersion, they also want a game. the two aren't mutually exclusive in a sci fi space game. You dont need to simulate the boring actual reality of space travel any more than you need to simulate the mundane tedious tasks of life in a first person shooter to have a decently realistic and fun one.

you dont need to abandon the 1:1 galaxy to get players on board with it taking a long time to get to some destination if they're busy with fun gameplay during the journey. Rather than just what we have now.

Players request stuff to do in supercruise
Players stack missions
Players complain about being constantly interrupted in supercruise

There is no winning here.

because interdictions are just interruptions. They offer nothing to the player in terms of gameplay. You either skip away from them or instantly kill them. The net effect is just a waste of time.

that's not added gameplay content. That's just a time sink.
