One thing that bothered the heck out of me in JWE 1 is how low Triceratops stats were. The nemesis of the king of the Dinosaurs should be evenly matched with them. Yes, the genome can modified, but only by so much and it has the fewest number of available slots of all ceratopsians, despite being the second largest known ceratopsian (right behind Eotriceratops).
Alongside the ankylosaurus, I always felt that the triceratops was a bit underpowered in the first game.
I think a good compromise would be to give the triceratops more genetic modifications, similar to the iguanodon. Both of them are early level dinosaurs, but the iguanodon has 6 modifiable base trait genes, where the triceratops has 3 modifiable base trait genes. 3 being the lowest in the game.
You could genetically modify the iguanodon to be a beast if you'd like, but the triceratops always felt underpowered.
If the triceratops and ankylosaurus could be just as modifiable, then this could be resolved. As the game does a great job balancing the potential of the dinosaur with costs and incubation success rate.
---WARNING! THERE ARE LOT OF NUMBERS AHEAD!--- Hello everyone! I hope you all are doing well during this time. I was thinking if it will be possible to have some dinosaurs be genetically upgradable to use some additional gene slots. For example, I think we could have dinosaurs like these get...

But for the TLDR, here is something I proposed back then to make them stronger, by increasing the triceratops modifiable traits from 3 to 7, and the ankylosaurus from 4 to 8. That way, they could still be cheap dinosaurs to match the early level of gameplay, but would have potential to be powerful specimens if the player chooses to have them be powerful.
I do not know how JWE2 will handle genetic modifications and combat, but I agree with the buff!
The reason it was so under powered was due to it being one of the first dinosaurs you unlocked and logically they can't give you something particularly good at the beginning of the game. If they make it a later unlock in JWE 2 it stats could be improved accordingly.
I find that forgivable considering the game mechanics. I imagine they thought it would be frustrating for the player to have to wait a long time to acquire a popular dinosaur species - even among people who just like movies but aren't interested in paleotology. So it's only fair that they set triceratops to be released earlier, but with low stats to compensate.

It never occurred to me that the orientation of the dinosaurs could be shifted in JWE2. If the game does get 75+ species at launch, it could lead to certain dinosaurs to end up as end game creatures and vice versa.

Hopefully they will, but there seems to be some sort of rule in the Jurassic Park tycoon games ever since Ludia's Jurassic Park Builder to have Triceratops as the first dinosaur you make in the game.
