Six days per week I wake up between 04:30 - 05:00, then I make a press of coffee and drink it while I'm working out. Probably spend longer than I should... an hour and a half, bro splits mostly... and I finish with five minutes of abs and as much heavy bag as I can knock out in 10 minutes for some quick conditioning.

Cardio comes later in the day when I ride my bike. Since I quit smoking 75 days ago, my cardiopulmonary function is through the roof. It's amazing now how much further my lungs and heart can carry the ride than my leg muscles can.

Later today I'll do some serious landscaping and dejunking, I also need to go buy some spacers so I can swap out the stem on my fitness bike (the OEM stem is too slammed, and I want a bit of an angle so I can both raise the saddle and sit a little more upright).

Anyways, Saturday morning resistance training is done. Can't let the dogs out and I can't go anywhere because there are folks here removing some trees and bushes from my yard. Some dead, some living. I always hate tearing out living foliage, but as my ex used to say - if it's growing where you don't want it, it's a weed.

Forums are quiet, so I figured I'd try to get a ball rolling.

What's your Saturday morning like?

I work six sometimes seven days a week. Working out is a luxury I have neither the time nor the energy to do much of these days. Saturday mornings are much like mondays or fridays mornings for me at least.

I got up early sat in the garden with my spoilt pet chickens perching on me then I had my once weekly full English breakfast with black pudding instead of my usual porridge smoothie. Went shopping then spent the rest of the morning doing garden archery on my home range only disturbed by the puppies from next door discovering they can climb through the fence and coming for a very happy tickle, 60 arrows shot (tournament practice) totally destroyed the gold. No puppies harmed.

A morning well spent.

Sounds awesome, Stigbob!

Yes, it is Saturday. I had my smoothie and protein shake for breakfast after the workout, but I get free reign over my other meals. For lunch, I had Korean.
Maybe next Saturday I'll have myself a big English breakfast.

Don't mix heavy cardio and weight training on the same day ;)
It's a myth. There is nothing wrong with it.
If you need to increase your calorie intake to sustain both activities, then do so. 99% of people aren't competitive bodybuilders.
Anyone who says you can't mix cardio and resistance training is either misinformed, or making excuses.

Yes we have the proof with Rocky Balboa. ☺️

Up at 5:30 swim my 72 laps, yardwork, built a garden scooter for my wife, bike ride around the lake, gaming gaming gaming.
Nice!

On Shoulder/Lat days (days 3 & 6), I have decided to cut the Abs and Heavy Bag portions out, and replace them with one iteration of "Rock Throw & Sprint" (Day 3), and one iteration of "Duffle Bag Drop" (Day 6).

  1. Rock Throw & Sprint is where I will pick up and throw a heavy rock, then sprint, then pick up the heavy rock and throw it again, then sprint... for 10 minutes or until I pass out.
  2. Duffle Bag Drop is where I will hoist up a heavy duffle bag and overhead press it as best I can, then drop it, then do it again... maybe with a walking lunge or something... for 10 minutes or until I pass out.
No joking. The idea is to get outside and do some of my exercise in the 7,000 square feet of front lawn that I can't fence yet still have to pay taxes for.

Maybe I'll build myself some walls to vault over. Make some of the old people's heads explode in the neighborhood. That would be cool.

I think you may be a few years younger than me, my degenerated and protruding discs would never permit me to pick up and throw stuff. Your work out is seriously impressive man. Makes me appreciate those days more.

Mid 40s. Trying to use it before I lose it.
Thanks, btw.
