I just randomly got this idear and thought "lets go, write that down!" so sorry if some of it is messy.
The crux is, architecture from nepal and tibet is beautifull, we dont have a lot of mountain animals and this pack would nicely compliment the basegame asian themes and the basegame himalayan animals like the himalayan brownbear, redpanda and snowleopard.
The Himalaya has a wide range of bioms, quite a lot to try and cover with only 4 (+ 3 basegame) animals, but i tried to pick interesting and diverse animals from all over, that also compliment the basegame raster. That is also the reason, why there is no large carnivore in the pack.
1. The domestic or wild yak
This animal is what gave me the idear for this pack.
It would be a flexible animal, being both a great fit for themed, random filler or pettingzoo exhibits and our third bovine in the game, while still looking distinct and unique from the rest.
It would probably be the "flagship" animal of the pack, as it is quite iconic for both tibetian culture and the Himalaya itself.
The secound animal is the Himalayan thar, a highly sexually dimorphic ungulent with fluffy and imposing males.
They represent the rocky cliffs and high slopes of the Himalaya, being on of the few species to be relativly often seen on the higher altitudes of the Mount Everest and one of the primary prey species of the snowleopard.
In the lower altitudes of the Himalaya we find subtropical forests, inhabited by a mix of animals from the mountains and the lowland of India.
A species very common in this region are gray langurs, in this picture represented by the Nepal gray langur.
These leafeating monkeys are a staple of the subhimalayan ecosystem and would be a great addition to the game, being both an excelent stand alone exhibit and in multispecies exhibits, often paired with orangutans or other herbivores.
Lastly, the bird of the pack is the Himalayan monal, native to the Himalayan forests and shrublands, as well as the state bird of Nepal.
It would join the peacock as a pheasant and smaller ground bird and could fill similar roles, but with a more colourfull and maybe mountainous touch.
Also more pheasants are a very welcome addition in my book, as they are often found with many diffrent species in the aviary sections of zoos.
For the exhibit animal i want to represent the Valley of Flowers, an Indian national park filled with large meadows of alpine flowers.
Not only would i hope for them to be part of the new foliage of the pack, but also i would like to see the devs trying to tackle butterflies, as this park is home to multiple common butterfly species like the common yellow swallowtail. This could also serve as a headline animal, to cash in people that want butterflies (i would bet most people) like they did with for example the polarbear and the red kangaroo in previous packs.
But what do you guys think?
Is this a pack that you would be interested in?
And what would you change to make it even better?
