GALNET - 18 JUN 3307 - Guardian-Thargoid Battlefield Discovered

Pilots Federation ALERT

An Anaconda from the Hesperus megaship has been found at a historical battlefield on the moon Trapezium Sector YU-X c1-2 1a.

The discovery was made by pilots who tracked down a series of signal beacons, following instructions provided by the anonymous ‘Salvation’. The beacons were deployed by the Hesperus during its voyage nearly 200 years ago.

The Anaconda, named Proteus, was one of the megaship’s secondary vessels and had been outfitted for long-range exploration. It was used by an Azimuth Biochemicals science team to flee the Hesperus after the megaship was overtaken by saboteurs from rival company Pharmasapien.

Upon landing, the Proteus was converted into a research facility to study the ancient structures and wreckage on the moon. The proximity of both Guardian and Thargoid technology suggests this was the site of a battle fought by the two civilisations over a million years ago, although in 3113 neither species had yet been identified.

Professor Alba Tesreau of Aegis Research gave this statement:

“This is a significant xenoarchaeological find – physical evidence of the war between the Guardians and the Thargoids. Our advance teams are conducting preliminary surveys, and a megaship is being prepared. Following the Alexandria’s tragic disappearance, we hope this may serve as a fresh source of Guardian artefacts for our anti-xeno research programme.”

Something 'mysteriously' keeps happening to places that we stockpile Guardian stuff; oh well, lets go grab some more.

How many times must we teach you this lesson, Aegis.

No, seriously, how many times? They've been continuously battered by players, reducing their factions to nothing. They've triggered countless Thargoid attacks in the Pleiades, Witch Head, and the bubble. The vast majority of their (legitimate) funding has been withdrawn, two out of three superpowers pulling out. The g Federal Navy was mobilized to stop this "research organisation" from conducting their "research".

If (when?) Aegis lose this upcoming CG, will that finally be enough? Yes, I know they're backed by the space illuminati, but it's getting a bit repetitive to see Aegis's rotting corpse dragged onto GalNet once again to do the routine. It's high time they were finished off so we can properly clean up the mess they created.

Greed never dies.

Maybe the Thargoid and Guardian is stuff from a time when they were "friends" and things got a little bit to uncontroled and there are little, abandoned baby mats all alone, not knowing what to do...

They were never friends. The flower did what they did with human, they attacked directly. The guardian tried to speak to them, but the Thargoids didn't answer, like for us.

I always thought there was a time before, although we do not know the exact nature of the relationship, were they co-existed...no?

I don't think so ? I remember reading the thargoid behaved like with us. They attacked the guardians because they were probably encroaching in their space (unknowingly). Guardian tried to talk to them, but the thargoid didn't answer. So the guardian killed them and had them flee.

Basically, the same than what happened with them. Except we suffered a lot more before we could get them to flee the first time, and also we tried to commit genocide.

At least part of this is a false narrative being pushed by the powers that be.

The Thargoids didn’t just straight out attack us.

And communication between humanity and the Thargoids has been possible, and going on, for ages.

What happened between the Thargoids and the Guardians is anyone’s guess, but at best, all we’re getting is the Guardian’s side of things. Given that what we’re hearing is coming from the same lips of people who are pushing false versions of what’s happened between Humanity and the Thargoids, it’s pretty doubtful we can even trust they’re giving an accurate version of the Guardians’ version of events.

Mhh perhaps in the old Elite, but if true it was retcon. I went to reddit and apparently, the Guardian were able to decrypt their language, eventually, and talk to them. But the Thargoid didn't care and kept attacking.

Officially, we were never able to talk to them. They attacked, but tried to wipe them with the bioweapon. They came back, we fight back.

OFC, the events of the Adamastor/Hesperus are still mostly a mystery, and it seems to be the "first contact" event. But our first contact where mostly hostile.

So that Anaconda that's 200 years old must have a really limited jump range, being before the invention of Frame Shift Drive.
The big thing with the FSD wasn’t the range increase it was the orders of magnitude decrease in hyperspace transit time.

With the main tech in use prior to the FSD, the Type 2b, hyperspace jumps would take 1-2 weeks.

The FSD brought that down to seconds.

(This brought the transit time back to what had allegedly been achievable with an earlier hyperdrive tech, which used a special fuel known as Quirium, which appears to have been proprietary tech of the Galactic Co-operative of worlds, and was lost when Galcop collapsed in the mid to late 3100s.)

It is all conjecture as we don't really know yet but there may be more to it than we think(bar the genocide and suspected kidnap & torture of thargoid.
Some of the art might suggest Thargoids were subservient to Guardians and Humans are barely mentioned at the bottom.
So, if like Egyptian hieroglyphics, it may show how things were, like RA mostly being at the top, being the most revered. Guardians being the same in times long ago.
Just a theory.
:)

This is the one that was customized to be able to reach 300 LY..so 200 years old and can do 300LY jumps.
there is a box under the lab..maybe a key to the conda? or to some tech that made it work.

wouldn't make sense that it simply has the ability to fly 300 ly via multiple jumps. possible, just seems dumb.

It specifically says it is from the Hesperus megaship. Megaships can carry fleets of ships aboard.

yes, I know...I would imagine that anyone that has been to it, probably looked its history up first or eventually.

otherwise, as far as I can tell the timeline doesn't make it too likely that it can do 300 ly jumps. but you never know.

The Proteus, also known by its identification code AZB2/H002255/SC-01, was an Anaconda that was used as a secondary exploration craft for the Hesperus, a megaship owned and operated by Azimuth Biochemicals in the early 32nd century. The Proteus had an approximate travel range of 300 light years.

So what's actually out there at this location? Is this just a cool lore tidbit, or is it actually worth going out there and poking around?

(I've managed to completely miss what's going on with most of this Hesperus story arc, is there anywhere else still persisting in the galaxy that's worth taking a wee shifty at?)
