On the X56 joystick two of the hats are designated H1 and H2 and the third is designated POV. What is different about the POV one. To be honest I use them all inm the same way and while H1 and H2 get numbers 7 through 14 assigned to them the POV one gets assigned joypov. Does anyone know what the difference is?.

IIRC Hat 1 & Hat 2 are four way plus press hats, up doen left right and press, whereas the POV one is eightway; up, up right, right, down right, down, down left, left, up left.
None of them are Press hats all of them are 8 way...I just wish ED put the same love they did with the 52s and used their actual postion/names not "Joy 25* when I switched to the 55 there was ALOT of button mashing where the 52s profiles used all the "actual" input with the GFX for them
I stand corrected, but it has been four years since I flew with an x55 and its warranty replacement x56.
Forget it. Even the old X55 has the same naming

Nothing... its just a name for 1 of the hats
Mine are : Left hat : panel select, top hat : pips select , bottom hat: combination of pickle target in front, pickle nearest hostile, and select fire group.

I was pretty sad... I really loved the effort they put into it with our actual cockpit controls being a 52, then trying to set up a game like SW Squadrons and literally having to have that control panel open(which on the 56 is the actual keys...) and pressing every button to see what "Joy 14" actually was...Forget it. Even the old X55 has the same naming

I still get totally confused in Odyssey with the "Press Joy14" and the new layouts....
Yep my 52 Pro is sitting on a dresser behind me, sometimes it calls to me. I still have buttons I don't 100% know what they are and just go into Controls and map them to something random so it tells me what it's currently doing...
That's why I keep the RefCard handy.
One display more or less doesn't matter here. And I'm not sure thats something to brag about
Thanks for the replies as INSTG8R says they are all 8 way hats although I only use them as 4 way myself. If they are all the same though then why aren't the named H1,2,3. I mean it isn't a problem or anything I just wondered why the grey one was called point of view rather than H3.
