that's a nice excuse for version 1. Doesn't really explain subsequent versions.

the only thing ground breaking with ED was the procedural generation of the environment. there was no breaking of ground in any kind of means of leveraging that near limitless variety of systems and planets for actual gameplay. No innovation in the trade sandbox (basically unchanged since elite's originals)

Look familiar? It's like what we have now is 0% different from what they had nearly 40 years ago. I guess they perfected trade then and just hung their hat on this masterpiece.

there's a reason why WC surpassed elite in popularity ..it was just a better game. there's something deficient in elite and it's carried over into ED and maybe that's fine. It's not like you need to be the greatest to still make money or be played. I'm convinced it's the vision of your Lord Brabus.

it may be time for his followers to give him back to the Void and find a newer figurehead.
