State of the Game

You can't complain AFTER launch if you knew full well what a Dogs Dinner EDO was before it launched... Even if you were not 100% sure (any sceptic would roll their eyes! ) 🙄

You didn't need to buy it before the plethora of post-release reviews confirmed every bodies worse fears! As you pointed out in your article...

So why did you buy Odyssey?
To torture yourself?
To show your loyalty to ?
To dispose of £40 you didn't want?
To be an unpaid Alpha Tester for and PAY for the privilege?
To ensure that this behaviour perpetuates in the gaming industry?

and here is the GOTCHA you have CONDONED their behaviour by buying their LEMON!

Everybody who has purchased EDO and is playing EDO is also CONDONING this behaviour. Simply VOTE WITH YOU FEET if you want this kind of thing to stop!

I realise this isn't directed at us, but if you don't mind, I'll answer some of these for myself. And if you do mind, well, tough kale. I'm answering anyway, and YOU CAN'T STOP ME MUAHAHAHAHAHA! Jetpacks away in the distance.

Let's get the #humbleflex out of the way: I'm on LEP. And Odyssey is the ultimate reason why. Because ultimately, those kind of passes aren't really worth it (except LotRO. seriously, that life pass has been ridiculously good value). You may end up saving a bit, but it's over such a long time that the difference is relatively inconsequential. Not to mention that if one doesn't feel compelled to buy at launch, one can get stuff at hefty discounts (I'm a long time follower of https://www.reddit.com/r/GameDeals/ and would encourage anyone with broad gaming tastes to do so, as well as checking https://isthereanydeal.com/ before buying anything).

But games change. And your taste changes. And you get bored. And at some point, forking out extra cash for that thing you haven't touched in months/years is just a no-no. Had I not owned that LEP, I likely wouldn't have picked up Odyssey considering 1) the fallout and 2) the fact that my previous session with ED was 6-8 months ago and lasted all of 10 minutes before I got bored again.

That's where the LEP strikes. I was stupidly enthusiastic by then that it was an ok price for the long game. And now I get to try out the new toys as they come without feeling dirty. And the icing on the cake is that despite its shocking issues, I'm having more fun with ED than I've had in years. You can keep your engineer quests, stupid story, guardian farming, alliance megawarboss ships, xenoCZ and fleet carriers, I'll keep my hobo boots on the ground until they have to quickly escape by running back to the ship after alerting too many angry commandos.

I'm not going to excuse the shoddy quality of release, the absolute lack of a plan, the (lol) no VR "at launch", the ridiculous gameplay excuse for no ship interiors, the lazy zero-g outposts, etc. But I'm loving it, and I'm glad I picked up that LEP back in beta, because otherwise, I'd have been missing out.

But then, I'm a horrible example, I loved Cyberpunk.

tl;dr: yeah, do as Susanna says, and vote with your wallet. Or make sure you don't have to by getting that life pass early on in the life of that-special-game-you-think-you'll-play-for-a-long-time.

It just keeps on giving

I lost all my teeth in October 2019. Took about 3 months to get used to it. Since then, no dentist visits, or teeth going bad.
My teeth are another "it should not happen" story in my life.
My milk teeth were absolute mess. Caries, fillings everywhere, drilling, suffering, nightmare.
My permanent teeth were not better. Again: caries, fillings, pain...
My dentist has diagnosed some kind of Enamel Hypoplasia or whatnot.
I was bond to loose my teeth around 30s.

And then... something happened.

Maybe it was maturity that "reworked" metabolism in my body, no idea, but suddenly caries disappeared, I had NOT A SINGLE new filling since I am an adult.
I lost one tooth in an... accident ;)
Rest is there, hard and immune to my... pretty bad for health lifestyle in my youth, triggering confusion of my dentists - because there are some superficial symptoms of Hypoplasia, without the fragility and susceptibility to caries and other "teeth destroyers" as they should be, by the books.

My experience exactly - Have been away for ED for a while off and on - due to work / RL etc.
I'm a Leper too. I'm really enjoying EDO - if only they could sort out VR (more FPS. Scanner thingy, and vanity cam would do).

Off topic: I've now got my new PSU installed and working, so will re:do VR comparisons in ED / attempted tuning etc in the VR thread (this weekend)

Sure, if I had known about the Kickstarter I too would have been a LEP holder... and fair play, you pre-paid for it.

One thing about all of this that is a little frightening though - Are LEPs going to be value for money in the future if the initial game release is such a steaming pile of Poo!
