State of the Game

Yeah, also skipped the whole power plant and module management part and installed a Guardian power plant. :D
Does the job very well, is pretty light and no engineering required. I got a lot of stripped down mods on other parts though.
Also engineered shields and armour. This ship hasn't exploded once since I bought it. Which was the day it was released. Built it specifically for Distant Worlds 2 back then.
I settled for a Guardian Booster. Power-hog, but at least I can bumble around pretty much anywhere.

The only thing I use the 50+ ly jump range for is quick trips back to the nearest excuse for civilisation. Otherwise, all my exploration these days is happening leisurely in Economic Route mode.

:D S

We're nerds, m'kay? :D

I never compromise with thrusters. I don't do the min-maxing routine for maximum jump range, but rather have a fully functional ship. I'm very content with the range. :)
This reminds me how I tried to explain to my wife why do I need >600HP in our family wagon.

"We visit Poland frequently and you know there is a lot of single carriageway where I have to overtake using lane for opposite traffic.
And more power means I will be able to execute such maneuvers quicker.
It increases active safety factor of our car"

She seemed to be convinced.
At least until I demonstrated practical applications of this feature...

Booster is necessary somehow... :D
And yeah. You only need range when you want to get somewhere fast or for areas like the Formidine Rift.
My range is 57.5 and 61 unladen. More than enough for me.

I'm glad I don't need to convince my wife to buy anything. It's more like the other way around... The other side of the room with her desk is full of Morrowind merch including 30cm statues of a Dwemer Colossus and Mephala from the Elderscolls Online special editions... There are also 4 monitors in her corner and maps and a framed picture of the Normandy and... My little shrine got nothing on her. :D

Seen the guy that makes the 2.5 mio ly tour with a stock Sidey?

He's seen the void and didn't handle it well.

he's going to do like 80,000 loading screens for nothing. Because he's given up on everything at this point, so might as well look at 80,000 loading screens.

edit: originally when i read that thread .. i was hoping he was just supercruising the entire thing. but no. just lame jumps to equal the same distance. absolutely uninteresting.

I don't NEED to convince her in "my" part of "live environment management".
Like cars and any technical stuff we buy.
She "manages" aesthetical side etc.

This one was about taming potentially negative emotional feedback on my (controversial) decision.
Preventively ;)
