Help with Restore/Activation Missions

I've never had scavs come in on powering up a base, but I've had them arrive pretty regularly on powering one down.

I've had a few digital espionage missions that have required me to power up a base to steal data from it with no access, so I've had to leave shocked doors everywhere (no bodies to steal access from so I have to open everything on the way into the power centre, then everything on the way to the authorisation scans terminal)

When I do those, as soon as I set the reactor shutting down to take my regulator back, I head out and hop onto a nearby rooftop so I can have a better view of whether a dropship is coming or not. Often, I'll see the telltale straight-line engine trail of a ship dropping out of supercruise the instant the reactor actually disengages.
I've been doing similar and they sure do love to pop up the second the reactor shuts off. The biggest batch of party crashers I've had so far consisted of three ships simultaneously dropping off a total of 18 "Pirate" faction scavs. For a threat 3 mission at a medium security settlement.

Haven't actually done any power down missions so i'm curious....of scavs whow up when the reactor goes offline...what happens if you haven't taken out all the settlement guards and staff?

Do they fight each other? Or do they not show if there's still base personal alive and active?

My (new / lazy) way:
  • Autoland at the base that needs reactivation.
  • disembark (G3+ Maverick, G3+ Tormentor, Whatever other weapon)
  • take the high ground to scout the base (if it's night it's way easier to spot their flashlights)
  • Kill them All... usually by picking a roof that has a stair (i kill at least one unsuspecting victim, then the rest while they rush to or when they reach the stairs). Emp and Frag grenades work nicely at the stairs
  • Reactivate, turn off alarms and any settlement defenses, loot everything that is not bolted on (not so much lately since i always seem to be 995/1000 with the assets storage)
  • I rarely (really really rare) got any reinforcement, but it does happen from time to time so repeat steps 3 and 4 (*)

General notices:
  • always restock ammo, always keep the suit at 50%+ energy and always have 2 spare batteries stocked.
  • not at last, keep alert and keep your surrounding awareness

The old way involved touching down in a place outside of base line of sight - 300-500+ meters away, but less than 1.5km
  • SRV all the way to the base.
  • Kill Scavs from the SRV.
  • Park SRV behind the PWR building
  • Reactivate and turn off alarms and defenses
  • Loot all

The worse happened when i was sorting out the loot before boarding the SRV (damn 1000 assets limit storage) and i got 2 waves at the same time, one of them right on top of my SRV.
Had to abandon the SRV and rushed to the nearest roof. Srv was destroyed seconds later and i found meself with a suit with less than 50% energy and no ammo boxes and energy boxes locations memorized while in a large base that was powered down (yea, i snatched the Power regulator on my way out) and with 10 angry commandos and snipers on my tail.
Eventually i nailed them all, but it wasnt fast... What was also not fast? Running 800m back to the ship

And one other notice:
Try not to be near the SRV when it explodes. The explosion is extremely powerfull and the radius is very big. I got wasted once by my own SRV exploding while i was trying to get in and save it from the enemy fire - while it was under fire by an entire squad. Big mistake.
Corollary: Some settlements have broken down SRV's... If there are enemies nearby, you can try to blow off that srv (and everyone else that is nearby). Nice fireworks.

Still too slow - what you want is : Apex in, reactivate base - kill any NPCs that get in the way, Apex out ;)

After my unfortunate APEX hostage story i was reluctant to get involved with them.
Also, i'm usually stacking 10-15 missions, some of them that cannot be done by using APEX.
So yea, my trusty DBX was converted to a ground attack ship and carries me anywhere i need to
