General / Off-Topic Virgin Gallactic Crash :(

Yeah they think it exploded. Very sad. I posted a thread seconds before, suggesting we name something after them.

Yeah that sounds like a nice idea.
Such a huge set back, one of the last things I remember hearing is they were hoping to get into orbit soon. I hope they can continue.

I think this will delay them hugely. The hope is they can at least say definitively what caused the crash / explosion, which will allow a fix and more testing I guess, if it's an unknown cause I wonder whether that ship has a future at all. I hope it's resolvable, we need to get out there. These are the people who will make ED a reality in future.

Yeah, it's really sad. First the antares rocket (luckily unmanned), and now this. Sad day for space exploration.

Fingers crossed we have more success with Rosetta and New Horizons

Saw a documentary last year about the Virgin Galactic spaceplane which gave alot of time around the test pilots. Totally fearless guys - a real loss :(

It's a shame that it is now private company's that are taking things forward.
If governments would stop wasting billions and billions on military and wars and put it into space programs, things would look much better for the human race in my opinion.

They will go make war in space
