Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

LOL. all of your spoilered embedded reddit video links are autoplaying for me.

Took a while to figure out where the cacophony was coming from. That page is now an explosion of sound for me. :ROFLMAO:
That sweet sweet throwback to late 90s/early 00s Internet...

Apologies, my enjoyment of something is not meant to detract from any shortcomings people may have with the game, I was clear that SC isn't above criticism just that released state or not I have got a lot of enjoyment out of it for my £40 and really when I think about it, I'm not sure what more I could ask for.
Wish I had only paid 40 quid... a ship long since sailed (or sold) for me

Yes, I have it installed on an SSD. It is not a magic cure all for fundamental server issues, disconnects, design issues, bugs or gameplay problems. A lot of these issues have persisted patch after patch after patch, sometimes being stomped out before reappearing suddenly.

I'm not sure why it has to be my fault somehow since these issues aren't exactly rare -- and some of them have been around for years and years.
No one is saying that the bugs are your fault or SSD is a magic cure for all problems. SSD is a magic cure for some specific issues that exist ONLY on HDD.
You will find numerous guys on reddit asking why they get poor framerate or a lot more bugs which are resolved by a switch of the game+pagefile to a SSD.

Just HOW is he being scammed?

Well, it depends on whether you think companies should give you the product they said they would deliver and you gave money for.

Sure, if you are a later backer you might feel as though CIG are delivering on what you paid for, but they certainly haven't delivered on what they initially promised, and by that, i mean after close to 500 million and 9 years they haven't delivered on what they said they could do for 5.5 million in 2-3 years.

Scam? Some might call it that. They have certainly lied to backers enough over the years. Personally i go more for incompetence combined with ego, narcissism, and a willingness to say whatever it takes to keep the money flowing (ie: lie through your teeth... which does make it scammy).

Then, once again, i suggest you avoid quoting my posts ;)

I mean, if you put a bit of thought into it you'd realise I wouldn't have known that you're not particularly nice to converse with until I conversed with you passive aggressive wink face

Semantics. You are correct and I'm wrong to say there is no way to share missions BUT only wing missions can be shared and only one of them at a time. So if you're in multicrew (which totally removes your ability to fly in a wing and my friend consistently doesn't get mission credit even for their own missions) or Odyssey (where there are no team missions at all and many solo missions will bug out when you take a team mate) or get kill counts in an SRV while your friend is on foot you're out of luck.

In SC, you click share and go do stuff.

Again, this doesn't mean SC isn't open to criticism but for a multiplayer game FD could learn a lot about multiplayer mechanics.

Oh my, CIG are reading the refundian sub for business ideas:

Honestly, I would rather have an Arrow on my shelf than install this game again. The plastic Arrow will not make me break my OS. I wonder if we will find ourselves in a situation where it is possible to buy a physical model of a JPG that is still not in the game.

Okay, I'll bite. How did Star Citizen "break" your operating system?

The article is still there, marked as "updated", so I assume it is still valid and SC will require me to remove and reconfigure a crucial part of the default system permissions. All of it because CIG cannot be bothered with placing user-specific files in the, gasp, user-specific folder. Taking ownership of the folders this way makes it possible for any poo poo process running under your account (which is probably an admin account anyway) to do anything to any of the folders containing installed software.

Now, before you say it is not "breaking" anything, it is like saying your Tesla is not broken even if any random person can do whatever they want with it only because they met you once. After all, you can still drive it.

@cigwatch : Those tips are not for everybody. I've installed SC on 5 computers and never changed the permissions.
You have tried to install SC and failed because of permissions not granted ?

Those problems are often tied to windows 7.
