Timed scenarios are terrible!

I'm pretty frustrated about these locking building features in sandbox mode (fine for other modes, fair people earned them or whatever). I enjoy this game because it's RELAXING. Timed scenarios are anything but. Tried one today and I HATED it! Absolutely the worst experience. Took away literally everything I like about the game and there's no way I'll ever be able to do them in those time limits. You didn't consider non-gamers at all with these.

I enjoyed the career levels for ideas and used them as a tutorial, but now I just want to play sandbox and enjoy the creating and taking care of the animals. I think you should unlock the reward statues for all players in sandbox - it's SANDBOX.

Thanks otherwise, however, for a really fantastic game! This is my ONLY complaint, aside maybe requesting more animals. ;)

I'm in agreement and have struggled to find any comments saying they're enjoyable.

I don't mind the statues being locked for the main Scenarios but missing out on them being under the timed ones... not good at all.

I've seen some positive reviews for them, which, cool for those people, but I don't think it's right to lock up build items in something so hard when the building aspect is a huge bloody point of the game. It's super frustrating!

If you don't like them, don't play them. The statue of the fennek and the chimpanzee in stone are free. So do you really need them in bronze, silver or gold? Well, I'm playing nearly always in sandbox-mode and I'm building all the time. But I think the stone-statues are way more prettier and realistic than any of the metal one. And even the bronze one is for nearly free, because you get it, if you finish the scenario in what time you needed.

Plus: I tried the dune-scenario (fennek) on easy and needed only 2 trials to achieve gold. Just tried for being able to talk about these timed scenarios. I don't like the scenarios in general, so I don't play them, because I like relaxing while playing and not stressing myself out. But they are doable, even for somebody who isn't used to them and doesn't like them. So: if you really, really need the statues in gold: Go watching a you-tube video and then try for yourself in "easy".

These scenarios definitly add something to planet zoo that at least some people like very much. Just allow other people having their fun with it, even if you can't share this fun. :)

I did try the first level on easy, twice, and failed both times. I can only get about 4 animals in the bloody park in an hour and I need 10. Some of us just suck at gaming, hence why games like this are normally perfect.

Did I ask for them to be removed? No, I asked for the statues to be unlocked in sandbox mode. Jeesh.

I am in definite agreement here. Although I am not a fan of the timed levels, I do think that just going with the stone statues is probably for the best.

If YOU just want the stone, cool, you're set. This is a SUGGESTION forum, I am asking Frontier to add ALL of them to SANDBOX mode. If you don't care, then move on. I might only use the stone, I don't know, but I want the OPTION. I don't think sandbox mode should limit what you have access too if they are going to require you to play counter to the enjoyment of the game and are so bloody hard. Heck, even if they were extremely easy, I don't think anything should ever be locked in sandbox mode, and I say that for Jurassic World Evolution too, even though I personally unlocked everything.

I agree that the timed scenarios are frustrating and not relaxing. I've only been able to enjoy them trying for the "bronze," which is meeting the scenario requirements without making the time cutoffs. People say the secret to making the time limits for silver or gold is to run the game on fast speed, but that makes it even more stressful for me, as things can go to heck quickly with sick animals (disease outbreaks always happen to me when playing the scenarios), escapes, broken enclosures etc. And part of the fun of the game for me is having time to see the animals and zoo guests interacting with things.

I generally take a fairly relaxed pace in building up franchise or challenge zoos, where I build one habitat at a time and slowly add staff and work zones as I see where they are needed. I seem to lack the motor skills to make nice looking habitats when hurrying. I get that frustrating thing where a building, path or barrier won't go where I want it to for reasons that aren't always clear. So in the timed zoos, my enclosures end up looking wonky and my staff buildings and paths end up kind of off kilter. That bugs me.

But one strength of the game is that it offers different play styles for different tastes.

I have seen a mod that unlocks all those special statues, and I tried it and it worked just fine. IDK if it's been updated for 1.6, or if it even will, but it's a thing.

I agree, Roxxsmom. Again, not suggesting they remove the timed scenarios, rather that they not force people to have to do them if they don't like them. I like all the things you do. I did just rage myself through the first one to a gold, but I hated every bloody second of it. That I have to do it so many more times to unlock all the statues is so infuriating.

Thanks, Nekno. Is that on Steam? Sounds way better than playing these stupid things. 🤪

Nope, it's the feedback forum, so I took your suggestion for feedback and added mine. But no need to get mad. It is a progress Frontier made, we now get at least the stone statues, because at first we didn't even get that.
This thread is about how the timed scenarios are rubbish.
If you think they're good, make a new thread. When you post in a thread the complete opposite to what it started about then of course people are going to think you're being awkward.

I think you need to look up the definition of ‘discussion’. This is a discussion board not a ‘whine and have everyone agree with me’ board.

In a game that's all about creative freedom. It seems really odd that times scenarios are being pushed so much. Whacking down shoddy looking habitats without a care in the world in order to meet a time limit is pretty baffling.

The thing is, the scenarios are really nice looking and the leg work is done. Is it really that difficult to add a bit of storyline and make regular scenarios again? I don't think people would mind if it didn't have the voice acting but these timed scenarios are pants!

Everyone enjoys the game for other reasons.
I find the timed ones a fun challenge. all other modes are way to easy for me, I can't even get in red when I try to...
I hope this game will get more (different) challenging things in the future :D
But if you don't like the timed ones, you don't need to play them, there are lots of other modes that you can enjoy

I don’t actually disagree, since I haven’t played the timed scenarios, but I don’t play for the story scenarios either. Some people like both types of scenarios and I don’t begrudge then, but saying that the timed ones are objectively rubbish Is just asserting what can only possibly be an opinion as a fact. I’m sure frontier have data on how much each types of mode is played that gives a lot more insight than a random post on a discussion board.

Playing is not the same as enjoying. I have grinded out the timed scenarios purely for the statues. But I certainly didn't enjoy them.

And it isn't one random post, numerous people are commenting on their disappointment over on Facebook and Reddit etc
