A little love letter to Elite from the team at HCS

The crew at HCS, whilst developing their updates for Odyssey put together a bit of a video about Elite... and hired one of the voice cast from their packs to do the voiceover. He's VERY smooth.

It highlights some of the wonder of seeing new planets, travelling throughout the galaxy- whether in Horizons or Odyssey and is unashamedly a look at the achievements so far and with a big thumbs up for what's coming, whether improvements or new stuff.

Disclaimer: Yes, I'm helping them out and yes, it's me flying in a few of the shots in the video - the "snowspeeder-esque" low flyby of the Imperial fighter and the Krait banking away over that atmospheric planet....

Also - looks like they've got a 50% off summer sale on too if you're minded to bag one of the voices.

Good promotional video but no mention of bugs, borked gameplay, missions not working, grind, etc.....

As for possible future content.... well if Frontier threw us a few bones about what may be coming, that would be great.
But saying that, Mr B himself right at the start mentioned ship interiors, diverse animal and plant life on planets, etc... but those bones never came to anything did they.

Maybe Mr B doesn't care anymore either. He's a multimillionaire now so can just forget his child called Elite, put his feet up and relax on some sunny beach somewhere hot.

Well they have to promote their products so I'm not surprised they don't talk about all the issues...

Why should there be mention of such? Bugs will be fixed (sure, not all), gameplay is what the player makes of it, "missions not working" is redundant (part of bugs), grind is by choice and redundant (part of your "borked gameplay"). But "etc"... well, that's pretty broad, I'd say there was plenty of "etc" in the video.

So really, you have next to nothing to add, you just want to tear down someone else's love of the game. Some (many? most?) of us enjoy the game despite all its issues. It's not that we don't see them or ignore them, but rather we see past them, push through them, skirt around them, and find gems hidden in the muck. Odyssey has its issues, a great many issues. But they doesn't stop Odyssey being amazing. If anything, they make Odyssey even more amazing for achieving what it does despite its issues.

We all want Odyssey's issues fixed, and those issues are plenty frustrating, but that's no reason to spread hatred and angst. If anything kills off Odyssey (and with it, Elite), it will be that hatred, not the unfortunate release.

HCS you add so much immersive game play to Elite thank you for that.

After seeing this beautiful video on Elite I am totally baffled.
For the life of me I can‘t understand why Frontier isn’t putting more effort into Elite Dangerous.
I think many see the potential of Elite and get frustrated when we see it falling short.

Some may say that they are working hard on Elite but what we see is something different, a half hearted effort just to do the minimum development.
They already have a base game that is beyond anything on the market.
Why isn’t Frontier standing up and saying we want to make Elite Dangerous the best space sim, We will be bringing Ship interiors, VR, base building, cross play, exc, in the future.

They should be doing a full court press developing and promoting Elite Dangerous.
