State of the Game

Whilst on this nostalgia trip - I started thinking "what did I have before my 486 / PC".
Turns out it was an Atari ST - which is still sat on a shelf in my Office - and still works - Well it did a year ago when I last fired it up for a bit of retro gaming.

Ah - happier, simpler times :)

Commodore Amiga 500 for me. Loved that thing.

My first experience of Elite was on a ZX Spectrum but tbh, I wasn't really that keen on it.

FE2 on the Amiga was amazing as far as I was concerned and it totally drew me in. Even if the performance was dreadful, it didn't matter. I loved the game.

Does anyone else have this CMDRs name burned into their memory now?

At least someone else who has their first computer sitting on a shelf :)
My first C64 still comes out of it's corner sometimes for a game or some nostalgia - I have a serial to WLAN bridge on it and play telnet based MUDs sometimes.... :geek:
I have my old Apple //c in a suitcase with ye Olde Games Collectione (not a single one legit, of course). Last time I dusted it off, I played Conan, and wow, it's insane how easy it was to complete compared to the weeks I spent working on it back then. Apparently, a lifetime of gaming does make you git gud.

I had the same experience with Duke Nukem 3D - today I could play it blindfolded. Still I suck at competitive shooters aside of Unreal Tournament :)
