State of the Game

Have they stated outright there'll be further patching work yet? Been skating the issue for a while.
That's been annoying me quite a bit, to be honest.

Although, on the other hand, the logical side of my brain (rarely used, as I'm sure y'all already know) keeps saying that it would make absolutely no sense for FDev to leave the game in its current state until console launch. After all, if the potential console customers only have the current state to go buy, what chances are there, really, that they'll buy it at launch?

They said the performances patches will come at some point when they are working on the console, since it's basically linked. They need performance fixes to run on console. Until then, I think they said there wouldn't be much patching.
A few hotfixes here and there and that'll be it for the time being and then 1 or two bigger things until console launch late in the year.

Yeh, I'm trying to be optimistic since the first announcements in the Roadmap - they haven't said that they wouldn't be doing anything after the 5 patches in the Roadmap, but they also haven't said they would.

The wording used implied that after Patch 5 they would be focusing on performance and console, which I interpreted to mean that after Update 5 there would still be performance fixes pushed for PC. But they have never actually confirmed this.

And the non-confirmation track record of FD paints a bleak view into the future...

Ooh, they'd better have fixed a LOT of the non-performace related bugs then.
And those performace patches had better drop in pretty much as and when they're ready.

But this said, I really can't see this working correctly on PS4/XBONE level hardware. It looks to me way, way too reliant on GPU memory (the heightmap stamping method for terrain).
