Why nobody thanks Frontier for the recent patch? For the 1st time they LISTENED TO US and made changes that we actually asked! So: THANK YOU FRONTIER

Okay, OP, was fun while it lasted, enjoy your game and do us a favor next time opening a thread? Please don't put your hole message in the title, thanks and o7
Why do you care? I mean, seriously? Why did you feel the need to come over answering it? As I said, my message was more intended at the devs because nobody thanks them, and I know they read this forum (I know, they answered to some of my posts).

But do not worry, it does run on something that costs the same as a used car right now due to artificially inflated crypto prices :D
Back in the days, if you PC was not powerful enough, it was your problem. Now it is supposed to be devs problem. The times, they-are-a-changing...

Let's dial back and be honest for a second.

I've seen nobody taking anything out on the devs (other than 'FDev' as a whole which is who our contracts of purchase are with - goods fit and suitable and as described etc). The individual artists, coders I'm sure have worked damn hard.

The CM team have worked really hard trying to put out or at least damp down the dumpster fire a bit, but they can only tell us a) what they're told, and b) what they're allowed to.

However, this product should NOT have got past internal QA, never mind the public 'alpha'.

We know all of that.

Whoever is in charge of this needs the corporate equivalent of a size 12 to the nards. Several times. Continual pointing out of the problems is pretty much the only way we as consumers can make our voices heard.

We neither have to, nor should, accept without complaint what is frankly a substandard product.

Edit: To be clear, the problems with Odyssey go far, far beyond the performace issues.

Agreed. Praise Brebus as well that Duanes has the added ability of capitalising random words! Truly this is a thread to follow!

Yeah, I wouldn't do that if I were you OP...

I'm suspecting this is a thread based on a one off experience in the game, after the update, and before the coloured snake. Either that, or it is a steaming pile designed to cause pointless arguments.

I'm going back to lurking Amy, you got this ;)

Ps nice glasses Amy, I never noticed them before. It's a good job the OP is on the b
Ohhhh, a triple-elite... Wouah, so impressive... Please my God, can you tell me how to...? Oh wait, I'm triple elite for years now, I forgot, maybe I should use a print sceen to remember (and show-off to newbies).

David Braben himself should know exactly how those coders and artists, and audio guys and (quite probably) mid level managers are feeling about something they've worked hard on flopping so badly. He went through it all with FFE and GameTek. And ended up suing.

I know they are very bad at listening and communicating... But I love the game, so I play the game even if it is not perfect. Have you noticed the agressivity out there? Negativity arounfd the game is something I resent: if they don't like it, they can quit.
Yes. I've noticed the negativity. Two weeks ago, maybe I would have agreed with you, but after this dev update....

If you truly love the game, you should recognize that, sometimes, you need to be tough on the things you love. Especially when they are losing their way.
I think my over $300 spent and over 5000 hours(I'm not even sure at this point), is proof that I love the game as well.

I'm trying desperately the only way I can think of to SAVE this game that I love. The current direction that it is going, I feel, is a slow death. I would rather a quick death, or for Frontier to get their act together. The only way I can think of, is to put pressure on Frontier. Being nice is not working.

It would be less than 1%, perhaps,if I didn't play Odyssey content and just stayed in my spaceship, sure. I Could troll on the forums saying how great it is, without ever visiting a settlement or concourse area. Ignoring all the additional bugs it brings along to the other areas of the game of course.
But I have been attempting too, quite a lot actually.. so in the last weeks, its probably 70% of the time there are noticeable performance issues.

It's not about agreeing or disagreeing, not at all. The evidence is there, it is a fact the game has problems and they are even acknowledged by FD.
Here I agree... FPS is brocken. Actually, I play Elite for the space sim, I don't really care about the FPS, even now, so this is probably why we have different views. Then I respect what you say, and you are right.

FDEV "repaired" a tiny part what they broke and what we already paid for . They do NOT deserve any praise for the game working as intended. Espescially since they clearly IGNORE most of player feedback like broken planet tech , ship interiours , more vehicles etc for years ! . the state of the game is a joke !

I was really disappointed with the fleet carriers, something nobody asked for, something that is in a dead-end, and something that I still don't get the point (I've sold mine long ago). They could have developped something much better than that with the same effort and time. But I think Odyssey is different, it adds a lot of things and pave the way for the future. I personnaly never believed it would work fine during the first month after the launch, so maybe that is why I don't really care. Myself, I want to see Elite evolve toward something like the antic Mercenary 3, these space games where you would have a real story, a real implication: issue is these games were closed-ends. Nowadays, reaching that kind of results with an open-ended game is nearly impossible, so I agree with your post, I'm just not sure what the good direction woulf be.

All that, I agree, yes.
