To be fair, I'd rather spend 6m in a tram enjoying a nice sci fi city for view, than in an Apex shuttle, but that's just me I guess.
I usually spend it in Firefox tbh, although I didn't have this problem for the last couple of play sessions - because I booted up X4 last night, and NMS earlier 🤷‍♂️

The move from Elite to SC out of all games does amuse me though on various levels - but I guess that's where the likes & subscribes are by the looks of it.

One person that I know that used to stream Elite a lot and used it to grow her channel is HelloItsKolo.

It was a long time since she streamed any Elite related stuff. She was even one of the few content creators/streamers that were invited to FDevs studio to see some future stuff.

It’s quite funny to see Kai Zen sh**ing on FDEV after kissing their asses for the last year and Kolo was always more interested in self promotion.

Elite has nothing worth streaming for unless it's strictly PvP content, which is going to just be ganking traders out of starter systems.

I personally had thought about streaming content and have done so a few times, even with 230 followers and I get maybe 1. It's just not fun to watch.

How come MalicVR can have over 200+ viewers on his streams then, if "ED is so boring to watch"?

Maybe the fault for your low numbers is you and not the game?

Even the 'npc on benches' is way worse. But to give an example, depending on local server status the odds of successfully starting the game and flying to a location without crashes, disconnects or bugs, is between 50 en 90%.

This isnt any where near true. I play all the time and if I only got where i was trying to get half the time, well, I wouldn't be playing all the time. I'd say you get where you are going in the higher 90's in percent of the time.

That said, you will for sure run into issues that break the game, ruin missions, lose you cargo, or lose what you've been mining. It isn't 1/2 the time though.

Good thing you managed the avoid the waves of 30ks.

Anyway, I always recommend people to try the freeflies themselves. Wveach experience it in our own ways best I suppose. :)

at the risk of being a self promoting shill :p

there is plenty of gameplay in SC right now

I believe you have hit the sweet spot for playing SC Katie.

These might be the glory days. A disgrace on the way up, almost respectable today at the top, but the tumble back down the other side might be brutal.

It's the best of times though, for sure. Enjoy. A year or two ago you wouldn't have been able to complete any missions, or quantum travel without clipping out of your ship. Killer ramps and doors. Land claims for real money.

5 years ago (how time flies when you're having fun) and you might have believed Chris when he promised at citizencon that DREAMS were arriving that December, only to casually reveal in a fluff video with his devs a few months later that the features hadn't actually been designed or spec'd yet. Oops. Still, it boosted ship sales so he absolved himself on that one.

But as I say, you're seeing it today seemingly at it's most stable and - sort of - functional best. But like the longstanding SC streamers, SalteMike, Boredgamer etc you might find that those amazing immersive missions are ... it. The different activities aren't really there. Once you've done them, amazing, and then you can, well, do them again. In the same locations, in the one hand crafted but very pretty system. Those streamers don't do the things you're currently finding amazing, because once they did them once, they were done. If running around in your own and others ships is content, then sure, you can do that.

You might end up back with the nagging feeling the new shiny thing isn't so shiny, but more importantly it only survives year on year by convincing a small subset of the player base to spend ridiculous amounts of real money on new ships they could wait 6 months to buy in game. And without the whale purchases, the ... I cant think of the word ... game? thing? collapses. Because they routinely spend more than they bring in.

Although it probably won't collapse, the shell company shuffle will confuse prying eyes, and new "ships" will be designed by genuinely talented artists, and bought for life changing sums by idiots.

(if this one doesn't get me banned I might just give up)

This is pity. But just started to do it. Had a patience for a week.
Now when I google "elite dangerous" and it shows me start citizen I just click "don't show me this channel". Farewell "big streamers".

Or:
is proof that modern day games studios don't give a damn about what made an original game or series good, nor do they care about continuity. They just want to more influencers streaming, so they remake everything into a short twitch game loop so as to attract every game influencer on the planet. Then they add the loot collecting game loop on top so they don't lose the casual market.

Casuals... Casuals everywhere.

When big business dips it's knobbly hand into anything these days, regardless of the product, it loses what made it unique. Individualilty... "uniqueness" has no place in the Borg collective. In the minds of those who idolize Mammon only two lines of thought exist: The bottom line and the assembly line.

Consume. Obey.
