Elite Dangerous: Odyssey Update 5

Nowadays my PC keeps crashing to desktop on EliteDangerous64.exe has caused the crash. Yesterday it happened 5 times. Today 2 times so far. This game is broken in the extreme way. So FDEV fix it!!!!!
 
He will act surprised - and say they will notify a team to take a look at it.
This way instead of sally relaying information today, they can delay it for few days so they don't have to release a Patch to Update 5 this week.

No this week will be about collecting information. So maybe they will fix it next week, or maybe they will surprise us with Announcing a Road Map for next week, that way they don't need to do a patch next week either and delay it for 2 weeks, probably on 22nd July, assume they didn't took a vacation this month, else maybe sometime in August.

There might be a simpler explanation.

@sallymorganmoore Is there any plan for FD to fix all the missions that were broken with patch 5?

Larceny, Scavenge and Restore missions are all broken. They either can't be completed, or the POI doesn't show, or they give the wrong reward on completion. This is completely game-breaking!
That's just the tip of the iceberg. Fines & bounties are broken too - either they can't be cleared, or they don't show up to be cleared.

Morning! So I'm aware of the team looking into Restore missions but I very much want to check in on the rest of these you've raised. Bear with me a little because I'm catching up from a day off yesterday. Hopefully have some news for you soon o7

@sallymorganmoore Thank you for picking all of these issues up, not to mention jumping on the forums last night (on your day off, no less!) to help placate us here with the many issues that have been reported.

I know it may seem like a thankless task right now, but please take heart in the fact that this community is so vocal about these issues because we care about the game, and want it to shine like the star it was set out to be.

I know it's a bit of a fire-fight right now, but it WILL get better, and I would like to extend my (and hopefully the community's) thanks for continuing to have such a positive attitude towards our woes on these forum pages, even with the negativity that is out there right now!

Well it seems you're doing the work of 4 community managers at the moment, but gung ho enthusiasm will only go so far.

It seems bewildering that the situation surrounding the release of Odyssey has been allowed by the developer, as for the company this is a product that supports livelihoods and can have more serious repercussions than for the user base in lost jobs and lost reputations.

I can move on to a plethora of other diversions, but Frontier is stuck with it.

How did it come to this?
 
Have the development team factored in the idea of a BETA for console release? And not only a significant BETA but also a refractory period where they can implement and fix player flagged issues.

Odyssey has taken over 6 weeks and still the main problems can't be fixed by a desperate effort to firefight. Surely now whatever the timeframe for console launch it might be prudent to factor in at least 2 months before full release a BETA period and an implementation period to get it right. One of the huge concerns in the player community is that in the ALPHA that we had players flagged many serious issues and then the game went straight to release with only 2 weeks to implement them. Now even 6 weeks into full release it's clear we are nowhere near solving what was flagged in ALPHA.

Surely this would be prudent to not repeat for console launch. Can you provide us with any info on whether a consideration has been made concerning this? Many thanks in advance Sally. Even if the answer is no or you are not allowed to say due to your own orders which we understand but are unhappy about.

Any news on rank progression?, my Merc rank has not moved for quite some time now (pre patch 5) I was hoping it would be sorted in Patch 5. Currently I am back playing Horizons because of it as i feel it would be time wasted playing Odyssey while the progression is not working.

Hello! So from latest in my understanding, the Merc rank progression kicked back into life a little while ago BUT I'm very interested to know of any cases where it's still flagging...and this sounds like one of them! We can take a look at your account and see if something bespoke is happening with you, I reckcon. Could you share your commander name in game with me please? Happy to take it as a DM if you like :) Let's see!

Isn't there any possibility to be hired as a "helper" with this community stuff? I know Frontier IS working on Elite to be better, no doubt, but the major issue is people don't know anything and they're kinda sad and angry all together. I don't know -- what about you hire 100 guys for 24/7 support on forums, they could reply to all people asking stuff here, manage pages, manage forum threads, you know. It would be better (at least that's my idea) for Frontier to hire those people saying "we're working on that" that not hire them and let the community be in darkness alone.

I have to ask, if community managers are not the voice of the company then who is?

Who actually has the authority to speak on Frontier's behalf please?
