To add to my post, that is in no way a threat on my part. Just a simple observation of human behavior. At least the community hasn't resorted to death threats unlike some other franchises.

There is NO excuse for abuse in any form. Ever.

I am not condoning it just stating a fact. Do you remember when No Mans Sky first released? The developers recieved all kinds of abuse and death threats. It's not condoning the action by pointing out the fuel for that fire is exactly the same fuel for this one as well.

I've made some salty posts recently, and perhaps even pushed up to the line myself within this forum although I try not to claim any particular person is 'a liar' when dealing with company representatives even if the message they are being told to convey does not seem plausible. However I can not understand the lack of decency required to haunt people on their personal social platforms over some product I don't like. Nor to jump online in every event they host and are a part of to harangue them over an issue they clearly are not at liberty to further discuss.

Yeah, we get frustrated, and maybe even more than we rightly should over a video game, but learn to act with a modicum of social grace not some feral autist.

One can frame questions in a manner that is both polite and to the point - without resorting to abusive language towards others.
Not only this, but doing the opposite shuts all lanes to reasonable discourse. I’ve come across multiple threads where I would have chimed in but the insulting tone and sometimes aggressive language directed at the Devs made me rethink whether I wanted to participate in the thread.
So too much censorship can make the forums a “this is fine” echo chamber, and not enough censorship can turn them into a “this is DOOOOM” echo chamber.
Just don’t personally insult people, or imply that the reason for x or y not meeting expectations is due to incompetence, and then you can criticize the game without worrying about what Arthur is talking about.

He is right, players can't harass company workers. This is wrong.
With that been said, the company should should learn and not lie to the community too.
Should not release unfinished products that clearly they knew wasn't finished.
I think both sides are wrong in many ways.
Cheers.

Heya @Arthur Tolmie,

Obviously this is about your recent Statement on harassment post

I want to firstly say I whole heartedly agree with you that personal attacks should not be tolerated and I feel for anyone (Dev or Community member) who's been on the receiving end of one.

I would like to ask, who does the 'deeming' and are there review processes that can be taken if someone feels they have been unfairly banned?

I know that this is not your intention, but used wrongly these powers could turn feedback into an echo chamber of "this is fine" because members of the community with valid concerns are too scared to come forward lest they be 'deemed'

Sincerely, Ben Moss-Woodward / Cmdr Eid LeWeise
No! I disagree.

There are always two ways to post about issues & criticism.

1. Provide a reasonable statement in a logical way that makes sense & explains the issue concerned(y)

2. Go off half-cocked, ranting, whining & insulting everyone in Frontier about the issues an individual cmdr is experiencing(n).....

....It's not hard!!!

I agree 100%
And this should work both ways.
FDEV should be more respectful in many aspects.
To start, they should at least follow what they promise (recorded in video).

I think the bit we are glossing over is this: "This includes, but is not limited to, private messages to personal social accounts of staff members." It would appear that people are finding out FDev employee's personal social media accounts and harassing them there. I remember a thread awhile back about people DM'ing Dr. Ross on Twitter and getting cheesed off because she blocked them. I doubt that Arthur's statement is wholly precipitated by forum traffic. I imagine that some FDev employee got yet another screeching DM and it was the drop that overflowed the glass.

It really is unbelievable to me that this has to be explained to people as to why this isn't acceptable.🙇‍♂️

I just want to point out this is a symptom of the developers ignoring their base and having no meaningful communication with them. Nerves will boil and increased hostilities will happen if there is no relief for it.
No it isn't, it's a symptom of people with no self control or sense of perspective letting their frustration about a computer game get the better of them.

Frankly, go have a [you'll have to fill in the blank yourself with your stress relief of choice...]

I noticed some bad sorts behaving in an ungentlemany/womanly manner. Awful types, best left to stew in their own idiocy.

Pronounce it properly though, its your choice:
American English: Her A** Meant
Queens English: Harris Meant

While I am here, since when did we British have to refer to bass as 'sea bass'? Ridiculous. Did you know that Bass was the first registered trade mark? Thats the beer, not the fish.
Keep up the good work!
