Give every Odyssey owner 30$ worth of ARX. It doesn't cost FDev anything and players feel they've been given something for their troubles.

tbh. they could give me 1000$ worth of ARX - and it would still be 100% meaningless to me.
Heck they could hand me the entire Store content for free... and nothing would change.

Cosmetics giveaways aren't going to save them, not even by a far shot.

he started the "on earth" series about MSFS locations worth visiting - he posted the one about scotland as an example - really well done, didn't expect less from him, but this is even better than expected - the scotland one, i mean.

Yep, and I told him so on this very thread earlier. Wonderful video. Makes me all homesick and stuff.

To be honest, I think what most people want (beyond their own personal desires for exploration/combat/ships/whatnot) is the performance problems and bugs (not just the Odyssey ones) people have been reporting sorted, coupled with a weekly note letting us know where they are with that. I have no doubt there's more to come in terms of features and content, but all of that would be papering over cracks at the moment.

I subscribe to people because I like them and I like their content. Obsidian Ant and Drew Wager are two people I would get along with swimmingly IRL, because they are just good, fun, nice, lovable geeks IMO. Watching Drew play NMS for the first time was a real treat, and I'm not even a huge NMS fan. I also think that when they critique Elite Dangerous, they do so respectfully, even though I might not agree with every single critique.

I've shelved ED for the foreseeable future, so I actually like watching my ED streamers introduce me to new games like Star Citizen. However I am glad that Buur Pit remains focused on ED, because he does a really good job at giving a concise yet concrete report on what is happening in the world of Elite. This allows me to keep tabs on the game without watching the forum 24x7.

For those suggesting that CCs like OA are ruining Elite, I strongly disagree. I would not even be here right now if not for Obsidian Ant's channel, which introduced me to Elite to begin with. OA is like the friend who introduced me to the girl who would become my wife, and later my ex-wife. He was the best man at my wedding (metaphorically speaking) and he's been a great friend during the divorce. Now he's helping me find some other girls to date. Metaphors aside, OA has made very little money by showing me ED content, whereas Frontier has sold me three copies of Horizons and tons of cosmetics thanks to OA's channel, so the hate some people have towards him and some other CCs is misplaced.
I did say most! Not all.
OA is one I have stayed subscribed to because I enjoy his content. Bought Everspace based on his playthroughs some years ago.
I'm not interested in Star Citizen until I see concrete evidence of an actual finished product. Estimates put Star Citizen at least another 3 years away and Squadron 42 not until at least Q2 2022. Once bitten and all that.

Right, that was the Beyond 2.0 update, so you've basically missed Synthesis, Living Ship, Exo Mech, Crossplay, Desolation, Companions, Expeditions and Prisms updates. o_O

Hoo boy. ;)
That's great and all, but at its core it'll always be a pulp-scifi crafter/builder game with spaceships mostly being a way to load new maps. It has a center part, like ED and X4, that if you don't like it no dlc will change it.

I recommend NMS as one of a few spacegames to people all the time, but it isn't for me. And it never will be. Nothing wrong with that, and you dont see me hang around NMS communities berating HG for not catering to me or pushing players to ED. It's a great game, for others.

Eventually look for "Will and Kate" channel on youtube - they do a pretty good first exploration series of SC - the "verse" might not be that large yet, but there is certainly quite some stuff to do and play with. I haven't bought it yet, because I need a better PC to play it - especially I'm out of SSD space and that seems to be required. You might not buy it as well yet, but have a look at what it has already.

it is less pushing players to a different game, but more of "don't worry, be happy" meanwhile - sticking with Elite at this time is just frustrating, whereas they could have some fun in a different game meanwhile. in 6-12 months they can come back and eventually Elite will be worth playing again, but why would they want to stay frustrated until this might or might not be happening. They can have fun somewhere else and dwindling player numbers in Elite might get the attention of FDev quicker than any other method.

I've noticed that more than a few streamers who made their names streaming Elite have moved on or seriously cut back on Elite. This is not good.
I'm not sure about streamers myself, I find the game to be much more fun playing than watching. However there is certainly a decrease in CC activity of late. OA is creating much more flight simulator content as an example.

Sure, laugh about it. But be honest, you've truly never walked past a meadow, seeing some fine cows and getting sinful lust on your mind? We've all been there, no need to be shy about it.

Heck, I still sometimes think of a cow I saw in the distance years ago. I couldn't see the udder but I knew it was there. :)

Dangerous Discussion never dissapoints.

I've been lucky to start out on an icy planet - which looks quite natural, it's colors are not that much oversaturated. it seems to me that the starting planet doesn't have any predators at all. I expected some bear like predators, but so far nothing in sight. You started out several times, is the first planet always predator-free?

The argument was that he was refused the key because of his swearing being incompatible with the PEGI rating.
We all know that's a big Porkie pie, they simply don't like Yamiks because he's hyper critical, while (up until recently) every other content creator may have occasionally been critical, but would have generally towed the line. You see that kind of behaviour more frequently with film reviews, where, given particularly Disney's dominance, if you are too critical you'll get frozen out of any press access. Unfortunately, as a result, you're left with a situation whereby most film reviewers are now little more than shill sock puppets and you see an imbarrassing disconnect between critic and user reviews.

Now, FDev is no Disney, and the situation for the space games market is nowhere near as bad, but where it comes to Yamiks, they were clearly playing the same game.

I still remember the Captain Marvel fiasgo.

Not always no, but if you start on a planet that does, you just abandon it and start again (well I do anyway!).

I've noticed in recent versions that you don't typically get hassled by sentinels or predators on the early planets, so they've made that part a bit easier. Still happens sometimes though. There's also a scripted storm on the first planet that will kill you if you're unprepared for it.

The funny thing was, it was so transparent and obvious what FDev did (not least because Yamiks did a rant video to camera about it) that it backfired on FDev and helped Yamiks. His subscriber rate shot up, because people started to perceive they were being manipulated & knew Yamiks would be honest because he hadn't been "bought". It gave him notoriety and mystique... and put seeds of doubt in other people's minds about the authenticity & honesty of other Youtubers that passed the "Frontier Test".

He was always going to say what he thought anyway - and was always going to get an alpha key even if he wasn't given one by FDev. So, they couldn't stop him reviewing it or making videos about it. It's also a fair indication that FDev knew exactly how broken and unfinished Odyssey was before it was released, and they were scared of what he would say about it... because he doesn't hold back.
