Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Fans daydream about miracle techs all the time. What's more dubious is when developers promise them ;)

IE this quote which you used. It does not promise Jesus tech.

But these quotes for example: (Oct 2020)...

They definitely do ;)
Will never cease to amaze me how some SC fans will never stop at trying to equate the Himalayas with a little sand mound in a back yard. For them anything seems fair game in order to bring in completely abusive and false equivalences so to reconcile the SC dissonance.

It is a published game distributed openly to anyone willing to buy a copy. Regardless of whether the publisher would like to call it an alpha or not, I think it should be reviewed by major publications in its current state so that consumers can make an informed decision.
A thousand times this!

I mean, they can hold it up to their own standards via The Pledge, or compare it to early access games like Valheim or whatever.

I understand major publications holding off on officially reviewing it because (pull out your bingo cards):

1. It'll be called a 'hit piece' (whatever that means)
2. They spent the majority of those development years building a company and totally not miscommunicating with outsourced contractors (as per Joe Blobers et al)
3. Just $*#@ing LOL at how much more they have to go after nearly a decade when compared to what was originally sold to people
4. No one likes death threats
5. Staying neutral prevents all of the above
6. While many game devs have stated their respective stances on SC, linking those quotes will only reduce clicks from the crowdfunding...uh...crowd.

Those George Broussard ones never get old 😁

George Broussard said in 2015 that SC would take 10 years to make, and that even 300 million might not be enough money. I suspect he is the leading expert on vaporware in the industry. In 2016 he said he considered SC so dead he didn't even pay attention to it anymore. For these reasons. Says he knows high-level CIG people who are just drawing an easy paycheck while it lasts.

Would be labelled a hit piece by the faithful if it contained anything other than glowing praise for the game and Holy Roberts

It's funny how that other old bitter game dev that has issues finishing games' statements about how SC would take "more than 150M" to finish back in 2015 now sound like wishful thinking.

Pfft, a measly 150M is not enough to contain the Holy Roberts vision. Nor 10 years. In fact, what are budgets or timelines anyway? What is a budget or a timeline when you have a live game that so many people enjoy every day. 😂

A bit late in the day to be having a thread based existential crisis isn't it, or is this a poor attempt at cancel culture?
This is thread No. 12 (previous iterations I think were limited to 600 pages).

You should stick around, as there are more bone fide game devs on here compared to most other forums/threads, which provide a good perspective on all things Star Citizen...
hmm....with all du respect, I think SC is still years behind Elite ;)

Funny thing is, backers didn't understand. They thought he was explaining what release is. He was actually trying to explain he didn't have a fricking clue.

SC was a promotional when I got it with my GPU Windforce R9 280x crossfire with Radeon R9 280x (which I'm still using), it was around 2008 or maybe 2011, I don;t remember and Im too lazy to check.
I got a free ship and back then there was only one space station you could walk around and still no flight mode. ;) in all those years this game progressed so little, what can you do now ? fly between 10-20 stations ? and shoot some pirates ? with this pace our grand children will be playing a Beta version, maybe :)))))
